Here is some lore about them(written by Ninya):

Sometimes, young forest folk are possessed by wanderlust, and take to wandering the world. These strangers on the road draw many eyes, and a member of the forest folk would be a valued follower for any lord or chief. Those with the means would be wise to collect many baubles, trinkets and fanciful clothes to bribe the traveller with, as they only stay in one place for as long as they are amused. Their knowledge of nature and the woods is their main value to any benefactor, since that very knowledge could come in valuable for farmers or woodsmen. On the other hand, no matter how many bribes they receive, the traveller will not feel any particular attachment, simply leaving, taking whatever they like with them when the fancy hits. Many a wealthy lord or chieftain have found their things missing, and their valued follower gone, only able to ask themselves where they went wrong, not having any idea no matter what they did, it wouldn't have made a difference. Finally, after however long it takes them, the traveller returns home, bringing with them stories, baubles and valuable information from the outside.
