It's always important to take a little breather when the time between action allows, maybe let your friend play around with a captured starfighter you saved for them before you send it the same way the others have already gone, and relax yourself. Even a tireless warmachine like Tam could use a little break now and then ^^w^^

Usual different trivia to sustain my immortality time. I'm really proud of how this picture came out. References for feral characters are incredibly tough to come by, but I think I managed to do a decent enough job with what I had available to me. While there are certain things I think I could've done better, I'm satisfied with the redesign I've done for Tam. The armour is slicker, the colours are adjusted to fit the theming better, he looks much more like a recon model capable of stealth now. Before anyone points out bright lights everywhere, they can be turned off on demand with minimal detriment to Tam's functionality. The one thing I am not happy with is stabilizer fins on his hips and shoulders. I don't know what will I do with them, but I will do something. This is a threat
I took the picture as an opportunity to give more thought to my Homeworld setting and its factions. While Alliance is the main one and most of the stuff I work on writing is focused around them, there are other factions that at some point broke off from them for one reason or another. Some factions, like Free Company, are on friendly terms, other's, usually what remains of the forces of ex-collaborators and fringe separatists, are not so much. The picture takes place on one of the worlds controlled by those hostile forces and gives me an opportunity to play around with things that are usually found on Alliance-controlled planets being destroyed by Alliance-made synth. If I have to write the world Alliance one more time I'll implode from repeating myself too much
Anyway, that starfighter was another fun thing to design and is something I wanted to play around with. If somebody ever played Freelancer they might recognize what I based the fins on, but the rest of it isn't based on anything in particular. The thought behind it was making something that looks semi-aquatic and made primarily for speed, and I think I more or less succeeded in that. In-universe, the somewhat eclectic design marks it as being either a custom model (the fins are still in use by occasional Northern Dominion vessels, but mostly on civilian crafts, not military), or an older model from before Alliance's subsidiary states have pooled their resources so closely together that they've basically became a single state. Looking at the panel, one might notice that the flight control stick is left-handed and that's only partially o purpose. I toyed with the idea of making it left-handed as I was working on it but decided against it... only to have to mirror it later because Tam's tail fins where aimed directly at Silver's face. I guess that plane was fated to be left-handed from the beginning. Or it's just my divine punishment for not wanting to draw a pilot yoke
Anyway, if anyone took their time to read this, I am truly sorry, that's 3-5 minutes of your life I'll never give back >::3

Well, seeing how the complement of the fighters that has been assigned to this base is suspiciously missing along with any pilot and other personnel that was on duty, they might not have a reason to get a new base for a while ::3
And yeah, Tam has gotten though a lot of iterations before I was finally satisfied with his looks. Not 100% but a solid 95% at least

I've seen them a few times, but they are definitely an exceedingly rare breed. Unfortunate, that ::3
And I'm not going to lie and deny that proto visors were the main inspiration for for my synths. I think the differences are pretty minor and only come down to lower jaw being fully metal and 2 ears being replaced with 4 sensory antennae. I suppose mine usually have emitters on top and sides of their heads as well and some parts of them aren't fluffy. I have no idea what protogen have on the inside so I can't compare that, unfortunately ^^w^^

I think I may remember seeing one perhaps thinking harder. Definitely rare x3
I mean.. maybe I can turn my proot into a quadruped for a piece, just to bolster the numbers a bit :D
Protogens on the inside are like basically "normal" organics besides cybernetically enhanced organs to make them more efficient.

But from the looks, still the same-ish otherwise.
(Also, quite the detailed lore you got going there. Interesting to hear about :D)

Ah, I see. I don't know how I've never looked up what proots have on the inside before, but I guess that adds another little difference between them and my synths, as mine don't really have organs aside from the digestive system. Rest of their insides is occupied by a reactor core, batteries for additional energy storage and a few relatively small tanks for synthesizing and holding acids used for digestion. Actually eating something isn't their primary way of getting energy, they usually charge by directly connecting to the power grid. Eating things to recharge is an auxiliary function that allows them to operate independently for longer periods of time. Anything organic isn't particularly effective, it gives them very little energy and so they rely primarily on breaking down various heavy metals ^^w^^
As for lore, well, I spent about 15 years working on my setting. Of course a lot of it had to be scrapped at various times and re-written later, hardly any writing I've done in the early years is usable at all, but I enjoyed working on it in my free time. And in my work time too, a dubious benefit of having to do boring menial jobs that did not ask for much concentration. I hope to eventually either organize it into something that at least vaguely resembles a cohesive book (or more likely a series of books) or a comic ::3

I see I see :D
Well, Protos can technically recharge via electricity, but as by canon lore that won't sustain their organs and they'll still need nutrition in some capacity.
But would make sense that fully synthetic beings would be more suited to run on power than cyborgs to be fair :D
And geez, that is a looong time indeed. I was 10 when you started making lore then lmao
Would be cool to see more of it for sure then, be it in the form of book, art, comic or more ^^

To be fair I was like 15 when I began, and that's the main reason lots of the early stuff had to be scrapped. But a lot of it still could have been expanded and tweaked instead and it served as a decent enough foundation for me to work with going forward. And some stuff remained almost unchanged even since then. The timeline I initially outlined, different biologic differences between Alliance species, Kin, as I've later began to call them, and the underlying cosmology, all existed in the same form back then as they do now. There's probably more things I can't remember off the top of my head that haven't changed much ::3
Still, the story I was working on through 2019-2022 and intended to be the introduction to my setting has grown so much, it fails at its intended task of easing somebody who has not spent half their life working on the setting it takes place in, and circumstances have prevented me from beginning the work on a suitable replacement
For now, most of the lore will remain confined to the descriptions I write for my pics and conversations with those who are curious enough to ask, though I might eventually expand into writing short stories as well ^^w^^

I see I see.
I never was that creative as a kid x3
And that's fair! Take your time with your stories / comics :3
If you ever want to yapp about lore, I am free to hit up!
I may not be creative to come up with stuff myself, but I love to theorise. lol
And I also love talking about hypotheticals and how stuff could / would work :3

Not sure I'd describe myself as particularly creative either, to be honest. Passionate about things I like, sure, but creativity part is dubious ::3
I'm pretty asocial as things go and kinda bad at messaging people first, but if you ever wanna talk about anything feel free to add me on Discord or Telegram at anamotenebrae or @ AnamoTenebrae respectively; I'd love to chat about pretty much anything nd usually respond pretty quickly unless I'm asleep or afk for other reasons ^^w^^
