I'm not sure if the coon is meant to be serious here. Unlike full stories, where the character's thoughts can be explained, pictures, even with dialog, can sometimes be left to interpretation. Take it from someone who writes about feet and paws all the time.
That said, I'm not sure he needs the gun. The coon is much larger and could probably trample the pawslut to death. Then again, what the pawslut is doing probably feels good. Also, the coon may just be teasing the paw licker a little. Either way, I really the artist's drawing style.
