I wouldn't attempt to wield such a huge/heavy sword. I know of very few Men who could!
What it does remind me of, are my various staves/staffs. I have a few that are at/above 6' in height, 5/8-3/4" in diameter, and each with a stout cap at the bottom end, one with a boar spearhead attached to the 'Business end.'
Being staves, most folks don't give 'em a seconds thought. Sweet summer children that they are!

I like having them while hiking, because they make a convenient post/'V' support for a field tent/cover.
What I really like is most folks don't even think of them as a self-defense tool, and boy, are they!
If you practice with such a thing, it doesn't take very long to be skilled enough against an ignorant opponent, to keep your hide/life your own. Keep practicing (Best with another person, 'cause people are independent and keep you on yer toes!), and even folks wielding a hand weapon (Sword, spear, knife), won't be able to get close enough to ya to do you harm, while you have the opportunity to 'Dance' against them and leave them plenty of reminders on how not to behave towards others!
Folks interested in bladed weapons of this length/heft have a LOT of historical context, and I encourage 'em to dive into it.
