It's Day 20 of Octransfur, and the theme is Hybrid! #Octransfur
Fittingly following up yesterday's "Night" theme, I found myself in a new transformation scenario while still asleep!
My unconscious self was suddenly pulled into a strange realm called the Dream Cavern, overseen by a bird-like creature named Gale. The young griffin explained he brought me into his realm to provide a sparring partner for his friend, Blue the Diamond Dog (who looked suspiciously like a Lucario). Blue looked particularly strong, and Gale confirmed he trains in this realm on a regular basis. Naturally, I expressed concern about my combat capability versus such a seasoned opponent... but Gale reassured me that I could provide Blue with an ample challenge.
Suddenly, I felt the ever-familiar sensations of an impending transformation... Orange fur rapidly prickled all over my body, a thin jagged tail poked out above the edge of my pants, and my hair thickened & lengthened to a lovely yellow mane. Those details, combined with the two extra-long sabertooth teeth jutting from my mouth, made it pretty apparent I was becoming a shiny Raikou! But... suddenly, I also felt myself growing a mustache? And some armor-like protrusions also began growing on my limbs! These looked like features from... a Samurott, but on a Raikou body? Gale, sensing my confusion, enlightened me.
He explained that he had chosen a hybrid form for me to take on for my sparring match, to help provide a greater challenge for Blue to surmount. Not only that, but his realm was able to delve into my subconscious to help him identify two creatures I have a particular fondness for. Becoming something I have a stronger bond with, he speculated, would make me an even more adept opponent. Sure enough, I did feel surprisingly comfortable & experienced in this new body!
Gale guided me over to the proper training arena, with Blue following close behind. I rather enjoyed the unanticipated sense of stability in my stride in this body, having no issue walking around in this new form. On the way, Gale disclosed more about the Dream Cavern to which he brought me. The gist presented was that I wasn't actually physically there, and was technically dreaming all of this. However, the power of this dream realm is so strong that it feels as if anyone who visits is truly living through their time there, as if experiencing an especially vivid dream. I couldn't disagree with the "feels like you're truly there" part; my transformation had felt as real and intense as any I'd gone through before!
We reached the site of my friendly sparring match with Blue, at which point Gale tacked on one extra caveat about my presence in the Dream Cavern. Since this was (for all intents and purposes) just a dream I was experiencing, I could freely leave the realm whenever I pleased. But he also, in a sly half-joking tone, insisted that I COULDN'T leave until I defeated Blue in a duel. Blue, in turn, gave a smug look akin to saying "you're gonna be here a while, buddy". I gave a friendly but nervous chuckle, to which Gale reassured me that I was in no physical danger from any of Blue's attacks. After all, I was simply dreaming, and I'd also become a strong hybrid capable of surviving anything thrown at me. Still, I froze for a moment & wondered how I would even begin to defeat such a hardened combatant.
A brief flash of inspiration struck, compelling me to reach down to my new armored segments & pull out two long seashell-like swords. One swirled with mystical water energy, while the other sparked intensely with strong lightning. I was taken aback briefly by having such power stored directly on my body, but quickly changed my tune & cracked a small smile. I promptly felt like I stood a fighting chance, and assumed a combat position. Blue returned the gesture, and we initiated our sparring match posthaste. I wasn't sure how long it would take for me to eke out a win, but I knew one thing: Battling it out as a powerful hybrid Pokemon was going to be one of my most exhilarating dreams in a long time!
This post-TF scenario was drawn by Electuroo! They looked over this list of some of my favorite Pokemon, designed this hybrid based on my preferences, and included two of their own OCs (Blue and Gale) to flesh out the scene. Thank you!
