Dragonbound
Two friends get special costumes based on their dragonsonas just in time for a convention. However, when these suits come to life, Jade and Darion discover that their characters want to take control!
This is a rewrite of a story from a few years ago, and features
Nakase's character Kailian and my dragonsona Draythix. It is a little different from the old version, which was taken down for personal reasons, but I had a lot of fun with this update!
“Ugh, Darion didn't mention how large these packages would be,” Jade groaned as she dragged the two large cardboard boxes inside. “What in the world did he buy?”
Unfortunately, Jade’s friend Darion had asked her to watch for deliveries while he was gathering supplies for the convention they were heading to tomorrow. These packages supposedly contained something important for their trip, so he had begged her to sign for them. The thing was, Darion had been strangely evasive about what was actually being delivered, so Jade couldn’t help but take a closer look at the boxes. However, she froze when she unexpectedly found the name ‘Kailian’ written on one of them in black marker.
“Wait, what?!” Jade cried out with a mix of surprise and glee because Kailian was the name of one of her dragonsonas! Had Darion ordered something for her? Checking the other box, she found ‘Draythix,’ the name of Daron’s dragonsona, written on it. The final clue about the boxes’ contents was the name ‘Weardragon Creations’ on their return addresses.
Jade's heart raced as she put the puzzle pieces together. The weardragon pun implied that the boxes came from costume makers, which made sense, considering that Darion was obsessed with costumes. He used to talk a lot about how he wanted to get a costume based on his dragonsona, but he had trouble finding someone who could make it realistic enough; simply getting a fursuit wasn’t enough for him. Perhaps he had finally found a maker that he liked and commissioned not one but two costumes? It seemed crazy that he would spend that kind of money on a gift for her, but she certainly wasn’t going to complain!
Even though Jade knew she should wait for Darion to return home, she simply needed to see what was inside the Kailian box! After borrowing a knife from the kitchen, she carefully opened it and began pushing aside packing peanuts. It wasn’t long before she gasped in recognition when she found a red dragon mask staring up at her from within.
Hands trembling, she grabbed the mask and carefully pulled it out, oblivious to the mess she was creating as the packing materials spilled all over the floor. The mask turned out to be connected to an entire dragon costume, which sported her dragonsona’s red body, black stripes, and black belly scales. Reddish brown hair flowed from its head to the tip of its tail, and huge feathered wings sprung from the suit’s back. Whoever had made the costume had even made sure to make the feathers the right color of blue, with white and red wingtips. The attention to detail was incredible!
To Jade, the costume’s mask stood out the most. It had beautiful green eyes, black horns, and gold feathered ears. Every inch of the suit’s intricate design perfectly matched her draconic alter-ego. It even had the sort of fiercely smug expression that Kailian would have. Even though the suit had a rubbery shine, she couldn’t help but imagine that someone wearing it could easily have been mistaken for a real anthropomorphic dragon.
Hands still shaking, Jade carefully laid the massive costume on the living room floor and checked the box to see if anything else was in it. Much to her surprise and horror, a thick instruction booklet was at the bottom of the box labeled ‘Weardragon Costumes: Important Instructions and Warnings.’
“Why would a costume need an instruction booklet?” Jade stared at the thing for a moment before unceremoniously dropping it back in the box. “I’m not reading that!”
After confirming that nothing else was in the box, Jade looked back at the dragon costume. The thing seemed shockingly expensive, and she couldn’t help but wonder how Darion had afforded it, let alone two simultaneously! She was hesitant to accept such an extravagant gift but desperately wanted to try the costume. Just the thought of ‘becoming’ Kailian for a while made her giggle with glee.
With barely a second thought, she grabbed the heavy costume and carefully dragged it toward the guest bedroom she was staying in. After quickly stripping down, she opened a zipper that had been hidden beside the suit’s belly scales and began sliding her legs inside.
Working her feet into the costume was difficult since it turned out to be surprisingly tight around the ankles. Jade looked down to see the problem and found that the suit had a rubbery version of Kailian’s ankle cuffs, complete with fake broken chains hanging off them. Thankfully, the cuffs were somewhat flexible, so she forced her feet past them with some extra effort. Jade couldn’t help but smile as she let herself imagine that the cuffs were trapping her in the costume.
Laying the bed so she didn’t have to hold the heavy costume up, Jade began sliding her arms into place. Once again, she ran into some resistance because there were cuffs on the wrists as well, but working her hands into place was a bit easier than it had been with the ankles. After a few moments of wiggling her fingers, Jade managed to smooth out the gloves and paused to marvel at how realistic the costume looked when worn. The suit also fit so well that she resolved to ask Darion where he had gotten her measurements.
Even though she didn’t even have the mask on yet, Jade decided to stand back up and try walking around in the thing. However, she nearly toppled over immediately because the suit unexpectedly forced her to walk on her toes like it had invisible high heels, effectively making her walk in a digitigrade stance. Further adding to her disorientation, Jade felt like the suit’s feet were somehow suspending her several inches off the ground to make her appear taller. Kailian was supposed to be a very tall dragoness, but she didn’t like how difficult it was to move around in the suit.
“Will I really be able to wear this thing at the convention?” Jade wondered aloud as she struggled to take her first steps in the costume. The heavy wings hanging off her back made walking even more difficult. It didn’t take long before Jade began to wonder if she should take the suit off and actually take a look at its instructions.
An unexpected weight suddenly pulled down on Jade’s arms and legs, distracting her from her thoughts. Wondering what in the world she was feeling, she lifted one of her gloved hands to inspect it, only to be surprised by the unexpected sound of metallic jingles coming from the fake cuffs. Noticing a metallic sheen that wasn’t there before, she tapped the cuffs with the costume’s claws and found that they seemed to be made of real metal now.
She stared at the now very real cuffs for several moments in confusion as her brain tried to process the situation. The cuffs had definitely been made of rubber! She tried to pull one of her hands free from the costume’s gloves but found that metal cuffs were now making extracting her arms quite impossible. Realizing that she was quite stuck, her confusion quickly turned into panic, and she desperately began clawing at the cuffs to remove them.
Without warning, the costume’s open zipper suddenly pulled itself shut, and the entire suit tightened around her body. Then, before she could react, its draconic mask suddenly flipped over her head, blinding her. In a panic, Jade tried to grab the mask to pull it off, but an invisible force yanked her arms behind her and pulled her legs together. She quickly lost her balance and toppled to the floor.
The seemingly living costume tightened and shifted around Jade as she struggled to free herself. She found herself looking through the green lenses of the mask as it finished settling around her face. Then, even more bizarre feelings assaulted her senses as the suit seemingly melted around her. The tight rubber molded itself to her body so that it became perfectly form-fitting. Within moments, it felt like no air separated her skin from the suit, as if it had become vacuum-sealed around her body.
Even though she knew no one else was home, Jade tried calling for help but was immediately silenced when the costume’s liquid rubber forced its way into her mouth and nose. She choked and tried to spit the thick goo back out, but she was unable to stop it from pushing its way inside her body. Within moments, the goo had coated her mouth, and it continued its way down her throat.
A few terrifying moments later, the goo opened an air passage, and Jade was finally able to gasp for breath. She was surprised to find that her draconic mask moved as she breathed, almost as if it had become fitted to her mouth like a glove. It even felt as if her tongue was trapped within the suit’s draconic tongue, and strangely, it moved with her as if it were a part of her.
Even more alien sensations soon distracted her from the strange mask. Even though she could still clearly feel the costume embracing her skin, she also began to feel the presence of the suit’s feathered wings and long reptilian tail. She could even feel the chill of her metal cuffs, even though they weren’t touching her real skin. The realization that she was getting a taste of being an actual dragon made Jade’s panic gradually give way to elation, and she found herself drinking in the sensation of having the body she had always wanted.
The forces restraining her arms and legs had disappeared, possibly signaling that the suit’s transformation had finished. She slowly stood up and hobbled over to the guest room’s mirror to better look at herself. The dragon Kailian, not a human in a costume, looked back. She found herself giving the mirror a toothy grin.
“It feels good, doesn’t it?” Jade suddenly felt her mouth and tongue being forced to speak, almost as if the dragon in the mirror was controlling her. She reflexively tried to scream and jump away, but her rubbery second skin unexpectedly restrained her, preventing her from doing either.
“Shhhh, it is alright,” Jade found herself saying to her reflection as if she had become possessed. Even more terrifyingly, her draconic hands began tracing their way down her body, making her shiver at her own touch. “I’m going to take great care of you… I’m a part of you, after all.”
The costume began moving, and her body helplessly moved with it. The dragon suit began stretching as if waking up from a long nap. Jade even felt her tail and wings moving independently, making it even more apparent that the costume had come to life. Through her strange connection to the costume, she could feel its draconic limbs moving as naturally as a living creature’s.
The insanity of the situation made it take Jade longer than it should have to realize who she was dealing with. “You’re Kailian!” She cried out, her human voice sounding unnatural coming from the suit’s draconic mouth.
“That’s right!” After taking control of Jade's tongue, Kailian replied to her human self. “I’ve been drawn out of your mind and into this costume. Don’t worry. Now that I’m free, I plan to have enough fun for the both of us.”
For a moment, Jade felt ecstatic to actually meet Kailian, a character she had created years ago in real life. However, that feeling quickly faded when the implications of being trapped inside the red dragoness began to dawn on her. Kailian had been designed as an avatar for her most extreme emotions and devious thoughts. What in the world would Kailian do now that she was free?
The dragoness’ ears suddenly twitched, and she smiled, “Well, it sounds like your human friend Darion is back home. Maybe I should have some fun with him…”
“Kailian, I… I’m so glad to finally meet you,” Jade said with a hint of unease in her voice, “But can we talk for a bit? What are you going to… mmmf!“ Her voice was suddenly cut off as the costume’s jaw shut.
“Talk?” Kailian said with a grin as her rubbery body squeezed its host. “Now, now, that would make it seem like we were equals. It would be much more fun if our relationship were more like that of… a master and pet.”
Jade’s eyes widened in alarm, but her attempts to protest were silenced when the living suit refused to let her move her tongue. Instead, she could only make muffled noises of surprise when the living suit hijacked arms and began lovingly stroking their chest. Kailian was literally petting her, either to mess with her or make her feel like an actual pet! Despite the strange and terrifying situation, Jade had trouble working up the will to resist Kailian because the idea of being taken care of by her dragonsona felt strangely appealing.
“Yes, I think you’ll make a perfect pet, my dear Jade,” Kailian said to their reflection as Jade squirmed and shivered beneath her scales. “There’s no need for you to think or do anything from now on…”
Realizing that Kailian might actually intend to keep her trapped like this, Jade went into a panic and began struggling to free herself from the living suit. She pulled her arms toward the costume’s chest with a burst of adrenaline-fueled strength. However, much to her dismay, she couldn’t find any sign that a zipper had ever been there.
The dragon costume grinned. “I’m the one in control here,” Kailian said teasingly. “Just be a good little pet and relax.” The lenses Jade had been looking through suddenly glowed green, and Kailian’s voice began filling her mind, telling her to relax. Jade tried to close her eyes, but the living costume had lined every inch of her skin, and it quickly pulled her eyelids back open, leaving her completely defenseless against the hypnosis.
Within moments, Jade found it harder and harder to think. The dragoness’ voice seemed simply to push Jade’s thoughts aside like water, and she slowly fell into a trance.
“There, isn’t that much better?” Kailian said soothingly to her pet. “You’re just a weak little human, so leave everything to me from now on.”
Only a contented sigh of acknowledgment came from Jade as her muscles went limp. She would have fallen to the floor if the Kailian suit wasn’t holding her up. Simply letting her dragonsona be in control felt so… right.
Now free of Jade’s interference, the living suit walked her out of the bedroom and towards the sound of Darion closing the house’s front door. Unable to muster either the strength or the will to struggle, Jade could only whimper helplessly as her body moved against her will.
“Hey, Jade! These should be all the snacks and toiletries we need… whoa!” Darion, a tall, red-headed man, practically jumped in surprise when he saw Kailian walking towards him. He stared at the dragoness in disbelief for a moment before collecting himself. “Shoot, I guess that means the packages arrived! Though, I had been hoping to surprise you with my gift.”
“How could I possibly restrain myself when my n… Kailian's name was written right on the side of the box?” The devious dragoness gestured towards the open package, unable to help but smile as she deceived Darion.
“Hah, I can't blame you then,” Darion replied dejectedly, but his mood quickly brightened when he began inspecting the Kailian costume. A wide smile formed on his face as he looked at the dragoness from various angles. “That suit looks even better than I thought it would! How does it feel?”
“I feel amazing!” Kailian replied with a toothy smile, spreading her wings to show them off to Darion. Jade briefly struggled to call out to her friend, but the living suit's hypnosis pushed aside the words she was trying to form. Instead, her dragonsona's words continued flowing from her mouth unabated. “Being a dragon is much better than being a little old human.”
“This is so wild; you're even acting like her!” Darion's excitement was palpable as he took in every detail of the Kailian suit's mannerisms. “I know these suits are supposed to help their wearers act like their characters by tapping into their subconscious, but this is even more realistic than I expected!”
Kailian rolled her eyes as Darion’s geeky enthusiasm began to bore her. “Bah, you're getting to meet me for the first time, and all you can talk about is the suit? Well, I guess that is better than if you tried asking me for a hug or something.”
“Meeting for the first time?” Darion gave Kailian a concerned look as he finally realized something wasn’t right. “Jade, did you follow the instructions before putting that thing on? The maker repeatedly warned me that the suits must be calibrated before wearing them; otherwise, weird stuff could happen.”
“Oh, I'm fine! Instead of worrying about me, how about I help you try on your Draythix costume.” Kailian walked over to the unopened box as she spoke and began cutting its tape with her surprisingly sharp claws. A devilish grin formed on the living suit’s face, though Darion couldn’t see it from where he stood. “You wouldn’t believe how good these suits feel…”
Realizing what Kailian was planning, Jade briefly mustered the will to try and scream a warning to her friend. However, the parts of the suit that had invaded her mouth gagged her, allowing only muffled noises to come out. Unable to speak and unable to move, Jade couldn’t signal that anything was wrong. Within moments, Kailian’s powerful hypnosis overtook her human’s mind again, and Jade watched passively as the scene unfolded before her.
“Seriously, Jade, we need to be careful with these things,” Darion had been saying during Jade’s unnoticed struggle. However, he paused when Kailian pulled the Draythix costume out of the box and held it before him. His jaw dropped as he stared at its shiny copper scales, red markings, and webbed wings. “Whoa, it looks perfect…”
“Come on now, I don’t want to be the only dragon in the room,” Kailian said with a smile while lifting the suit towards Darion. “Hurry up and put your proper form on.”
After a moment of hesitation, Darion stepped forward to take the costume. Jade made another weak attempt to call out to him, but Kailian didn’t even have to physically stop her this time, thanks to her growing hypnotic influence. The thought of fighting was making less and less sense to Jade with every passing moment. It was so much easier to let the dragoness have control. She had dreamt of becoming Kailian for years anyway, so why fight it?
Still ignorant of Jade’s plight, Darion spent a few moments staring longingly at the coppery costume before carefully setting it down on the floor. “As much as I really want to ‘become’ Draythix right now, I want to make sure I have the suit calibrated correctly first. I’m going to take a look at the instructions.”
Darion stepped towards the boxes to fish the instructions out of them, but Kailian suddenly extended a wing to block his path. Smiling devilishly, the dragoness used her wings to pull the startled human close to her chest. “No, no, you’re going to suck all the fun out of this. I guess I will have to take matters into my own hands…”
“Uh, Jade? What are you doing?” Darion asked as he tried to step away but was stopped when Kailian firmly grasped his shoulder with a clawed hand.
“You’re mistaken about something. I’m Kailian, not Jade!” The dragoness' grin widened when she saw Darion’s shocked reaction to her declaration.
Before Darion could respond, Kailian’s long tail wrapped around his legs and pulled him off balance, making it easy for Kailian to begin pushing him to the ground. Usually, a man as large as Darion would have been difficult to overpower, but Jade had been so thoroughly taken over that she was eagerly assisting her dragonsona now. Their combined strength and the suit’s size made it seem like Kailian had manifested in reality.
“Ka… Kailian?!” Darion stammered in confusion as his unexpectedly strong friend pushed him to the ground. A horrified look spread over his face as a sudden realization came to him. “Your suit, something’s wrong with it!”
“This suit is doing exactly what my dear Jade always wanted,” Kailian declared as she pinned Darion under one of her knees while restraining his legs with her tail. She then grabbed the Draythix costume and pulled it towards Darion’s feet. “Isn’t that right, my dear pet?”
“Y… yes…” Jade vacantly answered in a blissful tone through the Kailian suit’s mouth. Being a part of Kailian felt so good that she wasn’t even trying to fight it anymore.
“Jade, you’ve got to fight this thing!” Darion implored as he struggled to get free from Kailian. “The suit’s supposed to work with you, not control you!”
“Blah, blah, blah, stop making this difficult!” Kailian said as she ripped Darion’s shoes off his feet, then began stuffing his legs into his costume’s open zipper. “Do you want to risk damaging your precious costume? Besides, you’ll enjoy this anyway, just like she is.”
“Enjoy?!” Darion repeated in disbelief as he tried to push Kailian off of him. However, Kailian’s reminder about avoiding damaging the costly costume seemed to have its intended effect on him because he didn’t try kicking the Draythix suit off nearly as hard as he could have.
Seeming tired of talking to the human, Kailian focused on stuffing Darion inside the Draythix costume. With a few inhumanly strong pushes, she got his legs fully inside the costume and proceeded to wrestle his arms inside of it as well. However, Darion’s struggle began irritating her, so she inserted one of her clawed hands inside the other costume’s mask before speaking to it. “Draythix! Wake up and get control of your annoying human.”
Much to Darion’s surprise, his costume started coming to life. It tightened around his lower body, keeping him from wiggling free, making things much easier for Kailian. She stuffed Darion’s arms inside his costume and began forcing the Draythix mask over his head.
Now restrained by his costume, Darion made a last-ditch effort to reason with the dragoness. “Jade… Kailian! You need to stop; you aren’t real! You’re just… mmmmff!” His words were cut off as the Draythix mask slid over his face.
“Not real? Hah!” Kailian laughed as she zipped the Draythix costume shut and stood back to watch it take over its host. “You and Jade put so much effort into creating your ‘sonas’ that we’re just as real as you are. We just need help escaping from your minds and into the real world, and I’m sorry to say that your art, stories, and roleplaying weren’t cutting it anymore!”
Since Kailian wasn’t restraining him anymore, Darion tried to open his suit’s zipper before it was too late. However, his rapidly awakening suit quickly began restraining its uncooperative host. It pulled Darion’s arms to its sides and then tightly wrapped its wings around their chest in an all-encompassing hug to restrain him. The dragon suit even wrapped its tail around Darion’s legs like a snake to ensure he would not be moving anywhere until it was done with him.
Completely bound by his own dragonsona, Darion could only squirm helplessly on the floor as the suit integrated with his body. Its coppery material tightened against him as it melted away his clothes and became form-fitting. A gasp escaped the suit’s draconic mask as it finished lining Darion’s throat, allowing him to breathe through his new draconic maw for the first time.
Darion desperately attempted to reason with his living suit before he suffered the same fate as Jade. “Uhh, Draythix, please let me… mmf!” His words were cut off when his suit gagged him and its coppery eyes with a green hypnotic light.
“Awww, did you think that your dragonsona would be different?” Kailian taunted while twitching her tail in amusement. “You’ve kept Draythix cooped up soooo long in that human brain of yours. Did you really think he would simply let you out so you could calibrate that suit to chain him to your will?”
Muffled noises and sounds of struggling emanated from the Draythix suit’s trapped occupant for several moments, but the noises gradually lessened as it took over. After only a minute or two, Darion’s struggle finally died down. A sigh came from the Draythix’s mouth as the anthro dragon climbed to its feet. “I’ll have a proper conversation with you later, Darion; just rest for now,” the dragon said to its host with a hint of affection. “Maybe we can take turns once I’ve had a chance to stretch my wings for a while…”
Kailian couldn’t help but laugh at Draythix. “You’re going to take turns? That’s so boring! Don’t you want to have more fun with your human? Mess with him a little!”
“Hah, boring? Maybe in comparison to your wildness!” Draythix said with a laugh as he began stretching his limbs. “Aren’t you messing with your human a little too much? You have that hypnosis set so high that you might melt her brain!”
“Bah, she’ll be fine!” Kailian hugged her chest, eliciting a happy murmur from Jade. “Now that we’re free, let's have some fun. Plenty of other humans are out there to mess with, not to mention all those furries at that convention tomorrow…”
