Alarms go off and life springs forth, the morning has come and it is time to get up for work.
Whistles steam and babbling gurgles ends, calling over all for a drink.
Buzzers sound and yet again swarms gather for food.

A very happy environment, a lab where Scientists raise animals and train them to respond to varying stimulus.

Chim rings, the animals gather.
Bell rings, the get a treat.
Chirping sound signals their special drink is ready for them.

The workers here are experimenting with a new gene that will trigger a transformation in the host and so far the changes have been extremely small, from color differences to a slite size difference.

*NeRRRR*!
The staff drop what they're doing, leaving their animal locked up safe, and head to lunch.
The cafeteria is a very nice place consisting of three floors. It has a few trees and shrubs as well of murals of forests, savannas, coral reefs, and breathtaking sky shot of a forest covered mountain. Everyone usually has *their* spot to go to and chat it up with their friends, other times they'd gather with coworkers to talk about any progress.

Two good friends, Chi and Kai, sit down to discuss a mixture of things. From home life to work.

Chi:"Let's sit over here."
Kai:"Ok." Around the middle of the place "...So, how was your night Chi?"
Chi:"I took a run around the park yesterday. I just love running around the place. What did you do?"
Kai:"I needed to recharge my batteries after a rough day with my subject, so i just layed on the floor. She was so wily yesterday, ran me ragged."
She chuckles at him, then Chi seys "Yeah, i can just see you being dragged behind that dog of yours! Hahaha!" He sighs, Kai:"yeah, yeah. You got it easy since all you've got is a mouse."
Chi:"Hey! All the mice got out once, though they may love us, once they were out they didn't want to go back to their homes." He nods "Yeah i remember hearing about that, but that was once, my dog is much bigger and is far stronger than your mice."
Chi:"Awe, it just sucks having something big enough to hug and wants to love you back with slobbery kisses." She laughs
Kai:"Hm, whatever." He chuckles.

Chi:"So have you gotten any results yet?"
Kai:"Just odd color changes."
Chi:"I ment, new, results."
Kai:"No, nothing new. You?" She shakes her head & sighs.
Chi:"No, just some size differences. My mouse has grown a tail that could be mistaken as a gardner snake!"
Kai:"Hm, that's long."
Chi:"He doesn't pay much attention to it. He's done one thing though, it makes sense, but he just isn't acting like *my tail shouldn't be this long*."
Kai:"What does he do?"
Chi:"Curls his tail like a chameleon."
Kai:"Really?"
Chi:"yep."
Kai:"Huh...I wonder what i would do with a tail regardless of its length. Would i even know how to move it to begin with?...If it was too annoying to have i could just get rid of it i guess."
Chi:"But would you be able to acknowledge it like you didn't have it before to think that?"
Kai:"Hmm?" He leans back & crosses his arms.

Kai:"There are rumors that some labs are getting more results than we are. Their test subjects don't acknowledge the wings they never had, or legs they were born without. They just use them without a second thought." She points and nods as she swallows.
Chi:"That's it, it's like we've trained them to the point they don't have the will to question it. They only act upon our stimulus. They only think how want them to, act like how we want them to. They don't think on their own because they want us to tell them how to act. -! Mh. Should i really be questioning free thinking? If i do i might start questioning what we're doing!"
Kai:"Tell me about it! How do you think they would react if they were to think freely and started to question their changes? Would they revolt?"

*Rapid Three Clicks*
Simultaneously everyone looks up to the third floor where their boss stands. In his hand is a clicker which he clicked rapidly to draw their attention.
*PING*!
Everyone takes in a deep breath, their pupils expand, their clothes disappear into blue sand.

Chi's and Kai's pupils become slits as Chi's green eyes become goldenrod and Kai's amber eyes become turquoise. Everyone's eyes were the 1st to change.

The lobes of Chi's ears fuse to her head as they shift up the sides a bit, they go from circular to oval in shape, like a cat's ears, yellow fur covers them as long stands of pink fur tufts grow off their ends. Nails on Kai's hand flake off while claws push out and black scales grow from the ends of his digits back. The knuckle side scales are typical scales, little thick for protection while the scales on the palm side, along with his claws, look a bit, off. Chi's ears twitch and turn to face their boss as Kai's claws are dragged across the table top.


A thick tail starts growing out of Kai, pushing his hips out as his loins start to sink into him with black bar scales growing around them. Chi's feet start to stretch out as Her brunette hair starts to fall out as new pink hair grows out. Yellow fur grows on her back along the spine.
From the inner edges of her eyes to the edges of her lips, two black tear line marks form as her lips turn black, black spots start appearing of her body cept for her bellyline. White fur grows in her groin area. The spots on her are small above her belly, spots in lines down her back thicken into stripes going down her spine, along with them the spots being bigger and fewer below her belly, even colliding into unique shapes. Kai's tongue starts to slide out of his mouth.

Whiskers sprout above Chi's lips. Chi's feet continue to lengthen slowly as her toes begin to relocate, nails flake off as her bigtoes move the most as they shrink. Kai's tail continues to grow as his hips space further out, allowing his tail to line up with his belly slowly. His loins have sunken fully into him.
Scales are keeping the tail covered as it grows and is crawling round his hips and up his body. Kai's human teeth are loosen while his nose pushes out some, the tops of his nostrils push up and curl down some as the bridge of his nose thickens, widening. Vein like line scales start to form on his throat and lower arms, they also form above his eyes, bridge of nose, round nostrils, chin.

Yellow and black fur. Red and black scales. Slowly covering their altering bodys. White fur grows up from her groin up to her belly while yellow fur grows on her shoulders round and down her back some to meet in the middle, fur also grows on her hips round to the back and covers her bum and meets at her spine. Scales on his bellyline stops after consuming his bellybutton, pushing it out and in on itself till its gone and flat. The red scales going up his sides and back continue to move upwards.

Yellow fur spreads from her pink hair that has an odd gap in the middle, the black spots carry into the fur. The markings with the yellow and black fur are tall tell signs of a cheetah, though the ear tufts are more of a lynx. The backs of her hands gain fur as it moves down her upper arms and legs slowly.
The scales on his digits growing across his hands are black, but those on the palm side continue to look odd while red scales move up and around his shoulders and grows on the sides and back of his neck. The black bar scales forming on his collarbone and moving up are broken up by the lines that are expanding some. These lines go up into his hair then come out down the back of his neck down his back to the tip of his tail. This is mirrored on his belly down to his tail tip.

Kai's face stretches out as his teeth fall out, while the bridge of his nose further widens and his nostrils become slits slowly. Scales line his lips as his mouth moves to line up with his nose tip. His tongue splitting at its end is pushing his fallen teeth out.
His tail is thick enough to reach the front with the smooth slope from belly to tail. His lengthening tail is coiling up on the floor. It comes to life and lifts up to wrap around the bench. Red scales transition to black through speckleding as they moved on to his thighs and moved down his legs.

Chi's nose pushes forwards as it lifts while the column turns black. A line goes down from her nose to her upper lip as it alters to give the classic feline grin. Her tongue having gotten longer, sticks out "blepping".
Fur grows down her back as two lumps start to push out of her back, they are rather boney as they grow out. They get longer and bulk up, a elbow forms and they bend up wards. They move and fold up onto her back. A plethora of tiny needles grow on the new limbs, they only get so long before plentiful soft growths grow out, together they form a feather.

Kai's ears come to a point as they lose their lobes and stretch out onto stalks, taking on a teardrop shape. Vein line scales grow on the back of his ears while the inside resembles his palms. Chi's wings grow larger as Chi starts growing a slender tail, it moves more and more as it grows longer.
Her tail is furless at the moment, much like her awing feet. Her bigtoes shrink away to nothing as her other toes slide into paw form. Her toes are finishing their shifting as her feet stop lengthening and their ends take on the shape of paws. New black spots form on her toes and feet, their placement and texture change are that of paw pads. As her toes wiggle, claws come out.

Nails flake off of Chi's digits while claws push out. Her fingers shift from hand to paw position with pointer and pinky, middle and ring fingers, match lengths. Her tail quickly grew to full long length topped with a pink tuft of fur, while the rest is still furless. Yellow and then little white fur grows to the edges of her chest on the sides and top, circling her neck.
Kai's scaly back begins to bulge out, some scales move away while others go with the forming masses. They appear to have elbows and wrists as 3 digits grow out their ends. As they get longer they get thicker, the 3 digits grow and claws push out. They flex about before the 3 digits space out some and curl a bit in, these *hands* would be able to hold things and have some dexterity. Very dragon like in form, they fold up and reach for his shoulders and rest upon them gently.

Kai's feet lengthen some as his toes move into a triangular position and grow longer. Nails flake off as they go. Scales circle the base of his head. Kai's face pushes out more while the bridge of his nose thickens enough to start moving the placement of his eyes. This is stretching his head some, flattening his skull.
Though his ears are deer like, his reforming head is very lizard like with his nostrils becoming slits. The odd lines on his head, throat, down length of back and belly to tail tip, claws, his palms and soles, even his tongue start to turn a pale blue. His chest starts to change as scales start to grow.

Chi's wings reach their *wrists*, then forms a segment that first looks to be a webbed hand then becomes more flipper like as feathers reach the bend. Her chest flattens slowly out as more six more teats form down her chest and belly, white fur joins their arrival, spreading from above and below, it covers her front as yellow fur covers the rest of her torso. The feathers growing on her wings now start now grow on other areas of her body. Her collarbone grows small feathers that create a necklace like shape that goes down the center of her chest some.

They also go down her spine like links in a chain, they are spaced out enough to not completely cover the spots and stripes. They line the back of her lower arms and cluster around her wrist, and grow by her knucles on her hands. They grow down the outer sides of her upper legs before fur really starts covering them.
They cluster around her ankles as well and lastly grow on her pawed feet like they did on her hands. Lastly at the middle of her tail they grow a top a length of it, at the same time fur grows on it, starting off yellow it becomes spotted then covered in think black bands with a solid black end.

The color of the smaller feathers are pink speckled with tiny black dots. The color of bigger feathers on her wings are; mainly or mixed of iridescent lime green, baby blue, orange and lavender with pink raindrop ends. Speckled with tiny black dots. With a black dot at its end.

As a set of Kai's scales keep getting brighter and brighter, the luminous blue scales; the vein line scales, claws, palms and palm side of his fingers, the inside of his ears are all glowing blue. His lengthening toes grow out claws that glow too as the scales on the soles of his feet fully form, much like his hands, his feet luminous on the underside of his toes that are spacing apart. His forked tongue is luminous blue as well.
As these areas altered and got brighter, his chest finished changing. Scales consume it as they take on the shape of plate armor, an arrowhead shaped top center piece layered over the next two plates that look like his wings holding the arrowhead, they sit over another set similar to them and they sit over a great white shark tooth piece at their center. These plates have the brightest glow coming from under them, the glow almost looks to be emanating more than just light.

Kai's feet elongate only a tad more, his long slender toes finish spreading out. Scales fully cover them. Black scales cover his arms and legs as well as his ears, with all three areas speckled from red to black instead of transitioning solid color to solid color. His belly scales, up to his throat all the way down to tail tip, is black. The rest of him is covered in either red scales or the luminous ones, or, is still human skin.

Feathers grow and underline her eyes. They also sprout at the back of her lower jaw. Lastly, they grow between where her eyebrows were, and go up to fill in the gap in her hair. This stretch of feathers are like the bigger ones of her wings and are a little longer than the other smaller feathers. Chi's wings are half way to full size.

Kai's hair falls out as red scales hastily grow while his head narrows, his muzzle grows longer as his head flattens and his eyes shift further to the sides. Fangs of a lizard erupt in his finalizing maw while his neck gets longer. Kai's back-arms, arms and legs change similarly. A thick spike and thinner ones grows out with webbing growing between them. The arms out of his back are becoming bat wings with hands and collapsible frills grow on the back of his lower arms- aimed up, and back sides of his lower legs- aimed down. Scales are black and webbing is luminous blue. A collapsible frill grows up top his head too, and down the back to the base of his neck. All of its spikes are thin. His wings' second set of fingers grow past the half way point.

Collapsible frills grow on the top and bottom of his tail too, the webbing is luminous blue with the spikes being black. Along the top the frill is longer.

Yellow fur thick with black blotches goes down her legs while smaller spotted yellow moves down her arms. Chi's mouth starts to push forwards with her nostrils as they lift up. The front of her nose blackens, taking on an upside down triangle shape round the nostrils as the texture changes. Her teeth is falling out from the lengthening of her jaws while her compresses some. As she moves to lower her head down as if to lap up water her neck grows a little longer. Still looking up to their boss, she pushes out her teeth with her tongue. After they're out she sits back up straight and licks her lips, sharp new fangs is now filling in her mouth as fur covers her muzzle.
The prints of her digits dissolve into black blobs while the texture of these areas alter. While that occurred, at the base of her fingers the edge of her hand blackens as well, becoming a rounded triangle as its texture changes.

Scales crawling up and down Kai's legs meet similarly to the scales on his arms. Black scales line his bottom jaw as red covers the rest.
Fur crawls down Chi's limbs as well, her hands fully fur up as fur meets up with them at the wrists. White fur grows on the palm side as fur reaches her pawed feet, white fur grows round the pads.
Their frames only change a little with Chi getting thinner, more streamlined and Kai becoming a little longer and flexible in his torso. Their wings fully form with Chi's feathers full length and ready for flying while Kai's is ready for flight and to grab things with some dexterity.

Everyone has become some kind of Chimera. Just before their boss triple clicks the clicker again their clothes rematerialize, altered to fit their individual changes. Boss clickers and the tables open up with cup holders rising up. Everyone whips their attention to the rising drinks, showing their eagerness for the beverage.

Their ractions range from:
Kneading the table and/or the floor.
Standing up and padding the floor along with the table.
Tails flick up into the air and wave about.
Tails wagging like crazy.
Wings open a little, shake, then close, then repeat.
Panting.
Tongues hang out.
Licking their lips.
Whimpering.
Chortling.
Drooling.
Snapping their heads one way then the other, tilting it, looking at them rise up.

Once the drinks rise fully up they reach for them like they won't get one before sitting back down and drinking it calmly, returning to their calm states.

Chi:"So do you think we will ever have any promising results?" He shakes his head as he uses a wing hand to wipe his mouth then hold the drink as he grabs his meal.
Kai:"Who knows." Chi's tail flicks about as she drinks then turns for her food.
Chi:"I certainly hope we will. I'd hate to think we're doing this for nothing." She grabs her 1st drink and laps it up with her tongue.
Kai:"Well, if the rumors are true then one branch is doing something right. Wish i could watch it happen though, at least once. I bet it'd be so cool." Sticks his tongue out, wraps it around a piece of food on his fork then pulls it in.
Chi:"yeaaah, what i would give to see it, just once."

Their boss, grinning, watches them.
Valin:"Hm, free thinking? To think or act upon one's own thoughts instead of when their, *Boss*, wants them to via a prompt. Or to egnor pre programming of instinct or drilled in behavior reinfored by careful selective breeding. The training and conditioning over time to egnor things, like how their bodys have steadily changed more and more every week till they finally became how they are now. Hm, while not stable or permanent yet, they do not question beyond what their *God* wants them to think. As long as their needs are met, they haven't the will for why...Hmph, yeah right. Free thinking is an illusion."

After the lunch period comes to an end Valin clickers again, drawing everyone's attention once more. *PING*! Everyone returns to their human form *again* then take off together.
Once they are gone, cloaked staff comes in to meticulously collect the shedded nails, teeth, hair, claws, fur, scales, feathers, few dropped tails. Detailing who they came from.

Valin:"One needs to treat their pets with tender love and care. Making sure their living space clean and that they remain healthy."

He pushes off the railing and takes off down the hall behind him. Walking through the place shows Valin's Wolf children watching the various Pets through glass ceilings or monitors. Others having got done serving food are cleaning up. Some are getting beds cleaned up and set, only to leave the room and have some Pets enter and mess it up.

As Valin leaves the place he hums a tune.
A luscious forest, a gentle breeze moves the leafs about. Lights of houses and flickering fires are ahead of him. In the night sky are several nebulas along with several full moons dotting the sky.
