Upon retrospect, I think it makes sense that Yannit would still scare people. Unlike the Yinglets, Baxxid and whatever Isher's race is, it was established that Indrel typically live among their own hives and become extremely violent when separated from them for long periods of time.
As such, they probably don't make a habit of living within the city, thus making them a rare sight.

You know I wonder if lopin made that connection so quickly because he wears his clothes for a similar purpose. There's a different motivation behind it obviously but I can see a yinglet like him deciding to create his outfit and try to work in the city as a "merchant" because he wanted to be seen as more human than his peers.
I'm picturing a sort of 'open glove' more than a shoe. With the weight all going to the cushioned pads putting anything supportive along the joints would be cumbersome I think. The claws would also make any sort of fully enclosed garment less ideal. While weight would be the biggest issue of all, even thin leather may be more than they could comfortably handle unless they were the larger stronger breeds.
Shoes are kinda all about protection both above some but more so below, but no material could be light enough to prevent a toe crushing that could also be comfortably lifted by a Yinglet while something covering their pads fully would be kinda overdoing what nature already has done. So just a light 'shoe top' to give the appearance while being either fully open on the bottom or with full holes to allow claws and pads through seems the best bet.
Course they could have some things we're unaware of yet. Would be pretty awesome if some kind of super light bug shell could be made into functional boots for a Yinglet. :D OR those moonshoe things from the 90s! They were deathtraps when I wore them as a kid. *laughs at the memories* But maybe suitably small ones could work for Yinglets. Or those sort of 'stilt sandals' I've seen in some anime with an extra long slat of wood in the center for the wearer to balance on. Considering Yinglet feet are basically hands they could even make a sort of rubber ball with indents for pads and claws to sink into and then just bounce along on them.

Nice ideas!
We've seen that Yinglets use the grasping qualities of their feet all the time, either for picking up objects (remember the 'book-goblin'?) or for climbing. So I think any form of footwear that gets in the way of those nimble little digits doing their thing is going to be a major hindrance. Perhaps Kass could be content with some lightweight spats or similar, just as a nod to his human heritage?

Yeah...everything was kinda just thrown together however it would fit. There's vending machines, but only the ones with Lance cheese crackers and Tom's brand potato chips work. You can just break the glass on the other ones. They fix themselves. Kinda worth it for the brown sugar Pop-Tarts.
Kassen wisely reins in her morbid curiosity regarding the hazardous knowledge.
Lopin's poured all his character points into Intuition and Charisma, at the expense of everything else.
Yannit is innocently terrifying. I remember some fanfiction about a friendly xenomorph being staggeringly endearing.
Thank you for keeping the caravan train of the story moving along! This world is in good claws.

"Dumb except for the things he is smart about" kind of describes most named yinglets we've seen, doesn't it. They tend to be actually quite competent in their particular field of expertise and...well, yinglets everywhere else.
Also, Yannit keeps freaking out Yinglets. I wonder if it's some kind of instinctive reaction, like how humans are still evolutionarily primed to recoil from snakes.

Yello, OOPs folk! I'm here to remind you once again that there's a place called "Top Web Comics" https://www.topwebcomics.com/?home=3 that compiles comics from various places. There's a bunch of cool stuff there. They have monthly votes, so you can support OOPs there. You can vote once a day per device, so your PC, laptop, tablet, phone, etc.
I've noticed that you can sometimes even get in extra votes from different IP addresses, or if you're disconnected from your IP and open up again later.
The total for last month was 896 votes and 85th place. It's currently at 855 votes and 65th place. The highest it's reached is 36th place, and the top vote getters seem to end up with something close to 20,000 votes.
Vote early, vote often! Help OOPs get noticed!

I'm not on DA and don't plan to be. I'm not especially fond of the site, and their UI is abysmal.
As far as Val's forum, I only have so much time, and haven't looked at his site much. I watch his work here.
Feel free to post things yourself, of course. I sort of picked this up from you in the first place.

My gosh, it looks like the seamstresses are going to get even more screen time. They’re like the most frequent recurring side characters as if it’s a TV show. Meanwhile the librarian and Head Surgeon Merrs have only had around two appearances each (I’m not counting singular pages but sequences of pages they’ve been in).
Also, yinglet shoes… 🤔💭
