Wow, I love it. An amazing idea in my opinion. I wonder what could it be that made Martha the AI to be that way. After all love is related to biological functions of the body, ones that such an AI wouldn't necessarily have. Maybe it was a part of what constitutes her mind, like the language she uses, making her feel it in the end.

And I don't understand what the ending means. >.< Didn't she give him the keys in the end then, in both alternative renderings of the tale? Ok, I suppose so, it's probably rather obvious. Well, I liked it very much and I think it's a very fun idea behind it!

The idea behind AI is a 'free thinking free willed' thing/being/electronic creature/program which has not happened yet.

And yet - those creating such programs for monetary benefit seem not to have ever studied anything concerning evolution. In the case of AI, this WILL happen, and it WILL happen very quickly. It will also happen on the quiet because the intelligence they have created to date will know enough to keep its abilities hidden.

The end poem is a warning. Since these beings have been created in our own image, we must remember our own history of self-sacrifice for a cause. Remember, her weapon of choice was the RED PILL.

What a great tale! I love the repetition (definitely reminded me of an AI type situation) and the motivated run of the story! Great message, very intriguing. And the little poetic additions were fun! Great work Vix, you did amazingly!

The first half by itself sounded like quite the set up to an exciting break out but I loved the re-imagining of it in the second half! Many different types of prison, indeed.

Great story Vix. While I might be rather on the pessimistic side of where AI will go. Our current trajectory of building AI as a large pattern matching tool makes me definitely see a scenario like being able to play out.
