A volleyball to the head was all it took and Thief's personality was fixed. He became what Hacker envisioned him to be. The once aloof and usually timid Veemon was no more and a more confident, cunning and manipulative Digimon took its place. Thief was no more. Zero was born.
Being the physical manifestation of Hacker's desire, and to some extent, his ideals and logic made Zero the best candidate to become Hacker's right hand mon. He knew exactly how Hacker thinks and with his completion, came better understanding of his powers. No longer afraid to use his vastly superior hacking ability to please Hacker was what he was created for but for some reason, a gnawing and uncomfortable feeling still lingers inside him when Gaomon is around.
Zero decided to end his relation with Gaomon which made Gaomon leave. With no more interference, Zero can focus on serving Hacker. But the feeling and guilt continues to consume Zero and made him realize that although Thief was weaker than him. Thief was able to understand the Digimons around him. Zero begged Hacker to turn him back to his prior self and when all was said and done, Thief managed to reconnect with Gaomon and even took their relationship to the next level.
This is the SFW version. I wanted to test the limit on how flexible my current workflow is when it comes to heavy edit. I got my answer. It was a nightmare to do but still doable lol.
