Kyburz and Philip have turned into regular seals and have been spending their Summer down at the beach. Looks like they wandered a little too far from shore this time, coming face to face with a rather hefty orca named Opunui who sees them as a nice meal.

Kyburz had never known just how swiftly he could swim under the waves. Having recently been changed into a feral form, he and his good friend Philip had spent their Summer under the hot sun and swimming in the cool ocean.
For the past hour, the two seals had been playing tag. Innocent fun. They glided through schools of fish, navigated rocky formations, and even slipped through tall kelp forests. As the game went on, they swam further and further from the shore, heading deeper into the sea. They never stopped moving, each tag only spurring them to move faster and farther than the other. It wasn’t until the two seals had swam several hundred meters over a steep drop off that they noticed where they were.
“Tag! Gotcha!” Philip barked. He had slapped Kyburz’ side, wobbling the cyan-green hide. The two of them twirl and flip around as they slow to a halt. “Dang, I thought I really thought I’d outswim you that time! Can we stop for a minute?” Kyburz puffs, catching his breath after that furious race. With the time to take in his surroundings, he suddenly realizes just how empty their surroundings are.
“Uh, Phil? Where are we?”
“I think we went over a drop-off. Can’t even see the bottom down there!”
“Huh… Do you remember which way the shore was?”
“It was…” He looks around, “Uhh…”
“Yeah, I don’t know either.”
“We’re lost!”
“We’re not lost. We just need to find our bearings.”
Kyburz turns for the surface and begins to swim. Philip remains in place, eyes suddenly fixating on something in the distance. Just at the edge of his vision, a silhouette barely darker than the water hovers before vanishing into the darkness. The seal’s friend has nearly made it to the surface when he calls out, “There’s something moving down here!”
“What is it?”
“I don’t know, but I don’t like it. Come back here!”
Kyburz returns to his friend’s side. He scans the horizon carefully, but cannot make out any forms in the distance. “Where did you see it?” Philip points with a fin, “That way, I think. I couldn’t even tell which way it went!”
“Phil,” Kyburz whispers, “This is giving me a bad feeling. Let’s go to the surface.”
“No!” The gray seal retorts, “whatever that thing was will see us if we swim up there!”
“Well you got a better idea? Any way we decide to swim we might end up even further from shore.”
Just then, a mighty current pushes them from behind. A loud *whoosh* identifying its source as something much bigger than the seals.
“SWIM!” Kyburz shouts, bolting forward with all his might. Phil yelps and follows behind.
They plunge ahead, with a pursuer on their tails. The stranger speaks to them in a heavy chuckle.
“Lunch doesn’t usually wander into Opunui’s territory. And looks like it’s a double serving today!”
“Don’t eat us!” Phil cries out.
“I don’t think so. It’s lunch time! You two are fatter than my usual snacks. What a nice meal you’ll be!”
Kyburz glances back to see his friend losing pace. Further behind, a pair of brilliantly orange eyes stare back from the shadowy waters. “Faster Phil, he’s gaining on you!”
“Hah, I’ll be gaining weight from you pretty soon!”
Kyburz groans to himself, “This guy’s some talker!”
“Don’t you two know the shore is the other way?”
“Really?” Philip curves around.
“Phil wait!”
“AAAAAAAHHHhhh—!”
The scream cuts out as Philip’s head vanishes down the creature’s maw. Kyburz has no choice but to circle around.
Right before him, his seal friend wriggles about in the toothy maw of an orca. Opunui’s body is dark navy with silvery markings and unique spearheads of coral red adorning his fins and eye patches. The great beast is clearly well-fed, sporting a blubbery barrel. He barely struggles before slurping Phil down his gullet like an oversized noodle. The seal reappears as a long bulge in the dolphin’s throat. With one mighty gulp, Phil slips into Opunui’s stomach.
The pinniped struggles and groans, trying to prop himself up against the slick and squishy surfaces surrounding him. He pushes against the lining with his fins, doing little more than creating smaller lumps on the exterior of the beast’s stomach.
“Philip!” Kyburz screams, frozen in fear.
“Philip… Ahh… More like, appetizer!” His pale tongue slips out and slides along his lip. His eyelids furrow, and he glares at the cyan-green seal hungrily.
“Time for the main course, Kyburz.”
Kyburz screams and takes off, swimming above Opunui. Squashed inside the orca’s stomach, Philip can only cheer his friend on, hoping he can make it to shore at the very least. The orca allows the seal to pass, chuckling to himself.
“You’re only delaying your fate. Better to give up and be united with your friend.”
With a mighty kick, Opunui flips himself over and begins to chase after Kyburz. Each reverberating kick sends Philip rolling around inside his stomach, exaggerating the bulginess of Opunui’s paunch. The dolphin dives, choosing to flank the seal from a lower vantage.
Kyburz swims fiercely, hoping he comes across some terrain he can lose the orca within. Maybe he can get the fat beast stuck between some rocks and negotiate the release of Phil? From behind, Opunui goads Kyburz once more.
“I’ve never had a green seal before… You ever hear Dr. Seas’ story ‘Green Seals and Crab’?”
“Stop talking!” Kyburz grumbles. He turns towards the surface, hoping to set himself on course for the shore.
“You’re feeling playful now? Opunui loves to play with his food!”
Kyburz ignores the beast. He gives one final kick, then breaks the surface. He swiftly gazes around, finding that the shore had been off to their side the whole time. He judges the distance to be much farther than he thought. There’s no way this orca will let him get that far away. Kyburz gulps, then dives again.
*BOOOMPH*
He collides with a squishy surface, feeling a hard lump inside. Opening his eyes, he sees a bloated canvas of white beneath him.
“Kyburz?” A muffled reply comes from within.
“Uh oh.”
Gazing up, he makes eye contact with the orca. Opunui bears a toothy grin.
“I am so glad you want to play! Hope you like flying with the seagulls!”
Without any further warning, the whale arches his back and begins to dive. His great tail catches Kyburz and pulls him out of the water. The orca contorts his muscles, flicking his tail like a catapult. Kyburz rockets a hundred feet into the air, screaming the whole way. Some seagulls gliding overhead flap away in fear as the seal shrieks past them.
On his way down, Kyburz watches the orca’s maw grow closer and closer. He shuts his eyes in anticipation.
*GGGGGLLLLLLUUUUUUUORRRRRPPPP*
*Squelch*
“Oww,” Philip groans.
“Phil?” Kyburz gasps.
“Kyburz?” Philip stammers.
“Ahh, you two were very filling!” The orca comments, voice reverberating through his body.
“He ate us!” Kyburz whimpers.
“Quiet!” The orca’s voice rises, “You are Opunui’s meal, not his inner voices!”
The dolphin whacks his stomach with a fin, squeezing the two seals together in his cramped stomach. Kyburz and Philip whine, now coated in slimy stomach mucus. On top of that, it smelled less than pleasant in the dark space.
“Well,” Philip says, “I tagged you last, so that makes me the winner.”

With my recent attachment to seal characters, I figured I needed another cast member for them to interact with. Introducing Opunui, an orca with a whale of an appetite! He's a hunter of the oceans' fattest prey, and enjoys playing with his food. Two chubby seals will barely make a dent in his hunger, but he can't pass the opportunity for a quick meal!
