The Franchi LF-57 is an Italian blowback submachine gun that was produced back in 1956, and has remained in service since 1962. This saw minimal use in the Italian Navy as very few of these guns were produced in the 1960's, and around a few hundred were produced, but eventually other countries sought its production. Standard rate of fire is 500 rpm, muzzle velocity is 365 m/s, standard range reaches up to 25 meters, and would carry a feed magazine, holding between 25-40 rounds of 9x19 Parabellum.
"The Franchi LF57 uses a recessed bolt head similar to the Beretta Model 12's as a method of reducing the weapon's length, although on the LF57 the bolt's mass is carried above the barrel rather than around it. This allows manufacture to be simplified to a degree." -- Wikipedia
In the RP world, it was adopted by the Mettaurian Federation for its service in the Army branch. In 2020, the Yulruk Regiment, a Black Market paramilitary, took the weapon and converted it into an energy weapon, capable of firing bolts at a 600-rpm fire rate. Due to the weapon entirely being metallic and chrome, the grips and magazine slot were given protective rubber covers to protect the shooter from electrocuting themselves. While this wouldn't protect the user entirely, insurgents carrying this firearm are instructed to wear protective gear when operating the Scout LF-57.
The "Scout" Variant has no stock for mastered mobility, and a removable cap for plug to be placed inside for recharge. It is also sightless as it uses a grid to show optics for the user.
