This is Zar'Margulas, emperor to the empire of his own name. Known as the Golem Emperor, Zar'Margulas has been emperor of Ravillia's human capital for nearly five hundred years. The Golem Emperor came from the continent of Veheril and lead a conquest against the ley-born to control as much of Ravillia as possible so he could have free access to the ley energy that is more surface level than Veheril's. With the ley-born pushed to the eastern hemisphere of the continent, Zar'Margulas had free reign for hundreds of years, turning his mortal body into that of a golem to gain immortality at the cost of constantly consuming ley-energy which was not sustainable, as the energy gets corrupted when used to extend one's life force without a proper exchange; this results in the energy becoming scarce.

Zar'Margulas failed to acquire the ley-energy he needed in time to keep his golem body running, so he went into stasis to preserve his life. Before doing so, the Golem Emperor sent out mages and spies to prepare neighboring nations to unknowingly deliver the ley-energy residing in their territory, to the emperor. Years pass and the emperor's plan succeeds and the Emperor reawakens, but so much corrupted energy and time in stasis destroyed the Emperor's mind, maddening him. A unquenchable thirst for ley-energy and a desire for violence is the only driving force left; taking the remaining loyalists willing to follow him, the emperor has left his Empire to march north towards the only ley-energy on Ravallia left enough to sate his thirst, far to the north, in the fledgling nation of Muir'Beinn. It is there, the Emperor will face a foe he has never prepared for; three dragons.

Zar'Margulas has been a big bad in my world Eialm for many years, but has never been a combatant in the story. His influence shaped a loooot of things, and set the stage for why Ravillia is so segregated initially and will remain so through prejudice for many years to come. There is a lot more about him that I could go into detail about, but for a quick colored sketch, I didn't want to spend too long writing a full description on him. For example, the empire's capital structure, the royal family, how large the empire itself is, it's location.. ect. Zar'Margulas is the second big villian of Rakant's (as well as Takaani's) story, the first being Ibenez, the lich that caused Rakant's spirital condition and the many terrible things that's happened on the continent of Veheril; but that's a story for another time!
