This type of art style seems to me like a sweet blend between Hayao Miyazaki's and Don Bluth's styles of animation. It also brings up a very interesting concept just by looking at it and the title. A character that comes from a race that is normally accustomed to the dark. However, unlike her fellow brotherine, she is terrified of it and everyone around her. Being an introvert most of her life due to the trauma over the loss of her Mother and her father leaving her with her Grandmother for reasons unknown, she lacks the will and the spirit to meet new people and try new things, let alone see the world, as she is convinced that she is some form of jinx. That is, according to the local kids that makes her a target of ridicule. And now I'm getting paranormal investigation vibes from this pic, all of a sudden; with her being the vocal point of the whole story of which she has to overcome her fears of the unknown to help protect her town after discovering that she has an uncanny ability to, not only to detect and see spirits, But also to drive them away. And now, with a rag tag team of fellow misfits, what transpires is a comical, adventurous and emotional story of trust, courage and faith. SCARDY BAT.
