“I would like to thank the three of you for attending today, and maintaining peace between our glorious kingdoms. The peasants outside would love to see so much beauty in the same room…” Princess Clarissa smirked to the other women boredly sitting around the meeting area. “My obedient servants will deliver any order you ask, no matter how degrading…”
“Of course, of course…” Princess Daneinna, who was fanning herself in the corner, rolled her eyes. Clarissa had not seen her take her gaze off that hand-mirror the entire time they had been here, which made her annoyed. Each of the princesses were used to being fawned over, which had led to a lot of toe-stepping. They each wanted to be the ‘pretty one.’
“This summit is only peaceful because that infernal Arietta is not present currently.” Scoffed Princess Betrianna, producing a sigh from Clarissa…
“I am positively sure that our last guest is only late because she-”
“Oh Clarissaaaaa! What is this I found in your library?” The fourth princess revealed herself with a gleeful skip into the room.
“There is the resident ass of the castle…” Betrianna huffed. “I bet she was off rolling in the mud, or kissing the animals outside, judging from her appearance.” The bratty princess stood up and approached her rival.
“That language is not ladylike, Betrianna. And Arietta! What have you been amusing yourself with?” Clarissa got between the two, trying her hardest to prevent another battle. Betrianna and Arietta’s kingdoms had a feud, but she honestly doubted that the constant glaring and insulting was anything more than personal jealousy.
“I found this strange book!” Arietta showed off a finely-dusted novel, in perfect condition. Rather than any title on the cover, it had a beautiful design of flowering rose vines around the rim. The only indication as to who it was created by was a line near the bottom, saying -From the author of Hot, Milky Love-
“That is… strange, I do not recall that one.” Clarissa scratched her head. As someone who prided herself on her scholarliness, being leagues more intelligent than any other noble, she thought that she had read every word in her castle’s library. How could such a unique, high-quality volume have slipped through her fingers? She was a bit embarrassed to not recognize it. “We should return that to the shelves, for now. There is important business to attend to.”
“Come on, Lady Clarissa!” Arietta laughed, braggily twirling her dress as she put the mysterious book on the table. “What better to bring all of our kingdoms together than reading a magnificent story together? I will even narrate it, since I doubt Betrianna can read script. All she knows are the names of all her dumb ponies…”
“Excuse me, you beast!? You are only jealous that my carriage has more magnificent steeds than yours! Did you pick a herd of donkeys off a breeding farm to lead your cart?”
“Please… you both.” Clarissa facepalmed, looking between the two bickering women. Trying to mediate their incessant battling felt like trying to herd cats. She trained her servants to be perfectly obedient for a reason. Everything just worked better when things listened to her. “Arguing is not going to accomplish anything. Don’t you agree, Daneinna?”
“Hm?” The fourth princess cocked her head. She was much more entranced by her own reflection than the insults being tossed around. “Oh. I will agree that the yelling is quite distracting. Need I remind you all that I could be spending time with my paramours right now, but instead had the kindness to attend this union?”
“Maybe if Arietta wasn’t off reading random books, we would not be so distracted.” Betrianna grumbled, grabbing the aforementioned novel. “What is this story about anyway?”
The cover was turned over, revealing a detailed illustration of a large, grassy meadow. In the background was a stereotypical red barn, and green hills stretching into the horizon. The field was populated by cows, with one in the center given more prominence. Its black and white splotches of fur were finely-painted, and the shimmer in its eyes almost made it appear… human.
There was no text on the parchment, only the series of illustrations. And those were some of the most life-like drawings Clarissa had ever seen. How could a book like this fall between the cracks? She wondered.
“It is probably a story about some farmer, which doesn’t concern royals like us. Shall we get back to the meeting?” Clarissa urged Betrianna and Arietta to look away from the paper.
“I’d just like a brief peek! Perhaps I’ll bring this novel back to my kingdom as a symbol of peace…” Arietta giggled to herself, pushing Betrianna aside to continue through the book.
Clarissa had expected the illustrations in the following pages to follow a human farmhand, or milkmaid, but instead it focused around the cow. Not a fan of ugly farm animals, she was disgusted by the close-ups on its face. Who would write a story about a common bovine like that?
And the weirdness would only become more apparent from there. At first, the paintings were relatively tame, showing the belled animal waking up and getting up to its hooves, staring down with a nervous expression. However, the content of the images quickly distorted, soon featuring an up-close image of the bovine’s fattened, furry rump, wobbling back and forth. There was a swarm of flies buzzing around it, adding to the grossness. Plus the fine detail given to the wet spot between the cow’s thighs…
“Ew, this is disgusting! Who would take the time to draw a cow’s butt!? Can we please move on to something else?” Clarissa blushed and looked away, incredibly uncomfortable.
“Oh my…” Remarked Daneinna, who wasn’t paying attention until she spotted the perverted, steamy pictures in the novel. “This is quite interesting…” She kicked her leg and smiled at the illustrations.
Clarissa sighed even more. Was she the only one uneasy with seeing the lady parts of a literal piece of cattle!? They were princesses, they shouldn’t even be thinking about those fat creatures…
“Forget about the book! Let’s move on!” She butted in with an attempt to close it, in the process flipping forward a few pages. She briefly saw an image of that cow getting her breasts squeezed by a human, along with a reddening on its face. A few pages later, she was faced with the same animal placed in a wooden stall. And then with another bovine, a male one, mounting her… uck! Gross!
“Quit touching my book, Clarissa!” Arietta shoved the other princess’ hands away, preventing her from closing the cover of the tome she took from Clarissa’s library.
“Your book!? This belongs to me, you wretch!” Betrianna interrupted, trying to snatch it away.
Arietta and Betrianna each gripped the book and angrily tried to take it for themselves, causing the pages to flip far ahead, until the illustrations depicted a completely separate setting. Rather than a grassy cattle farm, there was a bright red tent, and a wide variety of circus animals doing tricks. Just as with the cow, all of those creatures had well-detailed portraits of their asses and breasts…
“Great, now we lost our spot in the story!” Arietta scoffed.
“Both of you, please! Your bickering is not appreciated here!” Princess Clarissa furiously tried to force herself between the bratty princesses..
“You should… should… should…” Betrianna blinked a few times, with a sudden face of confusion. She tried to let go of the decorated book, but instead her fingers seemed literally attached to the pages. Even worse, as she lifted them, the paper refused to rip, keeping her stuck!
Arietta tried to tug against it too, but it was like the parchment was covered with glue. And even more alarming… their hands started to sink into it… like it was a bottomless pit.
“W-What’s happening!?” Arietta screamed at the paper. She was quick to notice how as her arms were consumed into the drawing, illustrations of them appeared on the ink, as if she was being sucked into another world.
“I knew that you shouldn’t have touched that book!” Clarissa grunted, getting behind Betrianna and trying to pull her free, to little avail. Daneinna uselessly tried the same with Arietta, until…
Swwwwwish!
Both Betrianna and Arietta were sucked in up to their shoulders, and shortly after completely tumbled into the pages. Even though the book was much smaller than each of the women, their volumes were sucked into that tiny, compressed area. The illustration now had drawn versions of their characters in its pages, standing up on the circus stage, as if they were ordinary parts of the book. Two esteemed rulers of entire kingdoms were reduced to ink in an instant!
As Daneinna and Clarissa stared at each other, hearts thumping in horror… the book flipped forward again, responding to an unexplained gust of wind. The final third of the novel depicted the stalls and carriages of a public marketplace, where several more animals were placed on sale.
“What the…” Daneinna took a glance at the donkey in the center of the page, approaching the paper to inspect its overexaggerated udder “This is…so real…”
“Dane, stay away from it-”
Before Clarissa could finish, a light from the book struck the other princess, and she began to fall head-first towards the open book.
“AAAAA!”
Daneinna was about to disappear as well, but Clarissa was fast enough to grab her hand. She pulled with all of her strength, breathing heavily and growling, attempting to save the princess from that black hole…
Princess Clarissa managed to yank her a few inches out, but the suction of the book grew stronger with each passing second, straining her muscles past beyond what a noble was supposed to handle… until her strength gave out…
Like a trick of magic, their hands turned into goopy ink that quickly solidified, fusing Clarissas’ palm and fingers with Daneinna’s, bonding the two together. Soon they both fell into that pit together!
“No, nooooooo!” Princess Clarissa screeched as the light was snuffed all around her and she plummeted through a seemingly endless well, contained within a small book that weighed only a few pounds. She screamed and screamed through that void, but no servants came to help her…
At some point, their hands separated and they fell down in opposite directions…
Horror… uncertainty… confusion… dread…
Those were her last thoughts before passing out…
And her final memories of humanity as a whole…
