As we have met Ren, we now move on to the other side of the spectrum.....
Born in Seoul, Ben was raised by his father, Yun-Seo (who lived in Australia due to work) and his mother, Wren; the latter of whom was from Australia. For most of his life, she was raised lovingly by both his parents.... though one day, Wren started to act a little odd. It wouldn't be until the family went to see Yun-Seo's parents that Ben found out he has Polynesian ancestry, particularly Samoan as Yun-Seo's mother was Samoan. His mother, much to the confusion of both Ben and Yun-Seo, began to act strangely uncomfortable. It would be until Ben's grandmother told the story of her brother (Ben's great uncle) abandoning his family and culture to run a casino with shady people..... only to wind up broke and unable to face his family.
Having enough, Wren was confronted by her husband, demanding to know if she had anything against Samoan culture or anything of the like. Wren, aghast, said she didn't; in fact, she admitted that her ex's family was of Maori descent. In fact, she admitted her reason for her odd behavior was because she knew what it was like to be abandoned as she was abandoned by her own father. This surprised Ben as Wren never spoke about her family life and always avoided talking about it since he was very little. It was here that Wren revealed that, not only was she married before Yun-Seo, but that she had a child from that marriage; a son. A son she had abandoned because, while her marriage to her previous husband wasn't bad at first, they did nothing but argue and felt she wasn't ready to be a mother then.
She even tried to reconcile with her son.... only to find out that her former father-in-law (also named Kenneth like her ex and her son) had passed away her son moved away without telling anyone. To say Ben was in shock was an understatement; though he had a big, loving family in Japan.... he had an older brother he knew nothing about. Not that he was concerned about who he was, he was more focused on how his mother was through this time. As Wren began to connect with Korean and Samoan culture, Ben would notice that his mother would be withdrawn one day in particular, which he found out was his half-brother's birthday. As time went on, Ben began to resent and despise his half-sibling for causing his mother to be depressed, despite not knowing who he was or how he was around others.
Ben would slowly grow into a handsome young man, gaining a girlfriend, who later became his fiance; a dhole named Advika Khatri. As her uncle was a Guru in Kalaripayattu and Silambam, Ben became familiar with Indian culture. One day, during hi college years, Ben, Advika, and Ben's family went on holiday in Wellington, when two little dingo pups bumped into Advika. Ones who were as white as snow. Though their babysitter, a Tasmanian devil, was wary at first since he showed slight aggression, Ben showed he meant no harm to them. They were soon joined by the others and talked to Amelia (the Tasmanian devil) about how unique both pups looked. In fact..... their appearance was familiar to Wren for some reason..... Even more so when the pups said their dad's name was Ken....
Both groups soon parted ways but bumped into one another, along with another group...... one that had Wren's ex-husband Kenneth! Not only that, but he had also remarried and had a daughter; Ren Dalton. But that wasn't the big surprise..... the big surprise was that the twin's father..... was Ken Dalton himself! The IV, Ben's older half-brother! The one her Mother had been searching for all these years!
Unlike Ren, who was overjoyed to finally meet the older brother she hoped to see for years.... Ben felt his animosity rise; something Ken mutually felt. During the whole vacation, Ken either acted cold and distant or outright hostile to both his parents and barely acknowledged his half-siblings, despite Ren's best efforts. It wouldn't be until Ken punched out Kenneth's (the 3rd, apparently) lights out that Ben, who showed a lot of attitudes, finally went on the attack and antagonized the older canine; even physically attacking him.
After unintentionally hurting one of Ken's kids, Ken was blinded by rage and proceeded to nearly brutally beat Ben to a pulp. It wasn't until some tense hours later that all sides were finally able to sit down and talk. Despite his earlier behavior, Ben listened as Ren reached out to him and Ken, despite being upset he hurt Kenneth 3rd, and Ben started a fight; begged the two for a chance to get to know one another. After hearing Ren's about Kenneth 3rd, Ben admitted his mother also felt regret for abandoning Ken; even apologizing for how he acted and for harming Ken's child. After some time, Ben was able to get to know Ken and was happy he made amends with his parents; more so that he and Ren were able to get to know each other as well as their older brother.
Deciding to be close, Ben and Advika decided to move to America to be close with Ken and his pups where Ben worked in a Korean restaurant, while Advika worked as a yoga instructor; Ren had the same idea as she also moved and opened a Japanese restaurant with her fiancee.
Ben works as chef in a Korean bistro that serves many Korean delights: bulgogi, galbi, guk, and many more. He's a black belt in Yongmudo, Hapkido, Gongkwan Yusul, Hwa Rang Do, Kalaripayattu, Silambam, and Haedong Gumdo. Ben, though rough around the edges and a tad confrontational, is kind at heart and loyal to a fault to those he cares for; though it is easy to get on his bad side should anyone try and pick a fight or mess with his loved ones. He's actually good with kids, often teaches self-defense to minors, and offers to look after the twins, just so he can bond with his niece and nephew. Especially if it means redeeming himself in their eyes.
Ben belongs to me.
