Twilight Sparkle's point of veiw on the death of Stardust!

It was a rather mild evening in Canterlot. Twilight and her friend were visiting there for business.Though due to all the fights the mane 6 have faced over the years, twilight carried the elements of harmony in her saddlebag. Not only for protection, but also to keep her mind at ease.
As they were walking along, pinkie noticed the clinking of the elements in Twilight's bag, it wasn't exactly discreet, but the others didn't seem to want to say anything. So Pinkie spoke up, talking about a specific enemy they had faced in canterlot. “Twilight! You know you don't need to bring the elements everywhere you go! Just because the changeling swarm nearly took over the kingdom, and ate everyone for their love– oh wait… I see your point now..” The pink party pony’s bounce slowly to a walk as she had managed to contradict herself yet again.
Applejack rolled her eyes as she walked alongside twilight, but she agreed with Pinkie, twilight was being rather paranoid about a fight that happened years ago.
As the 6 ponies walked through the castle gardens together, they paused to watch the sunset over the horizon behind them. Rarity giving a happy sigh, and speaking up after a while.
“Isnt it amazing? All the different colours the sky has whenever the sun rises or sets. Its truely beautiful! Its what actually inspired my outfit for today!!”
She decided to strike a pose, her outfit was a lot more simple than any other outfit she had made, it was a layered, short dress. Which prevented it from dragging across the ground. Each layer was a different shade of orange, red and yellow, to represent a sunset. While the main body of the dress was a dark purple, with a black collar. To represent the night sky.
The white unicorn giggled as the others admired the dress for a moment, before turning their attention back to the sunset.
Twilight gave a smile as she saw Princess Celestia take flight off of the castle’s balcony, it wasn't often that the sun princess took flight anywhere, but when she did, she sure was elegant.
“Twilight, maybe stop giving your teacher loving looks, we need to get going. I've been hearing the guards talking about some shady ponies lurking around recently. I guess word of your visit spreads fast huh?” Rainbow spoke up.
Twilight agreed, there had been a lot of dangerous looking ponies around the castle grounds recently. So bad to the point they’ve had to raise security, and even Shining armour visits on occasion to help the guards out. The ponies kept moving, making their way deeper into the castle gardens. Their hooves echoing into the night sky as it mixed with the sound of small critters coming out of their homes to enjoy the crisp, night air.
Fluttershy was occasionally looking around at the gardens, and she noticed the fireflies twinkling in the shadows of trees. She smiled as she left them be, she had learned her lesson last time from the Grand Galloping Gala. These animals weren’t as domesticated as the ones in her cottage. They just lived here because it was safe, and had all the resources they needed, that there was no point in leaving.
Pinkie’s ears perked up as she heard laughter coming from above. She looked up and tilted her head.
“Hey, isn't that Princess Celestia and Luna?”
The others stopped and looked up, seeing the sun and moon princess flying around in the air together and laughing. Twilight squinted her eyes to get a better look, not wanting to fly up and disturb them. But she noticed they weren’t wearing their princess armour. , they were.. Playing?
It was definitely odd to see, but it was nice to see that even the highest authority of ponies have the time to take a break and have some fun.
“Yes it is, its alright though, they’ve been really busy, they deserve this!” Twilight soon spoke up. The others nodded in agreement and continued down the path, before the purple princess froze. She heard 3 voices up there.
A wide smile played on her face, maybe Cadance had come to visit!
The purple princess turned back around and looked up, but her smile vanished, that wasn't cadence, it was a red alicorn, with a curved horn!
“wait… There's someone up there! They have a curved horn!! And you know who else had a curved horn? King sombra!! That alicorn must be here to get revenge for King Sombra’s defeat!
Twilight began to ramble as she opened her bag, taking out the Elements of harmony. Fluttershy walked forward to Twilight, he ears folded back.
“um twilight, i dont think thats someone bad, if they’re laughing and having fun, then that alicorn must b– EEP!” The yellow pegasus was cut off as Twilight slapped her element over her neck.
The others tried to protest, saying that maybe this pony was just a friend, or maybe a relative they didn't know about, but they too were cut off by their elements being put on.
The 5 gave each other worried looks before assuming the position. Obviously with extreme hesitation.
Twilight's horn ignited, making the elements of harmony glow. Rarity looked up at the princesses, and she saw that their glow had caught the attention of Princess Celestia. The white unicorn tilted her head before letting out a gasp, seeing Princess Celestia fly toward Luna and the red alicorn.
Rarity’s ears stood on end as she heard celestia cry out “STARDUST NO!!”
Rarity’s eyes widened and she tried to stop Twilight before the attack began.
“TWILIGHT WAIT!! DONT ATT–!!” It was too late, the elements shot off their attack at the 3 alicorns. Rainbow Dash saw the red Alicorn push Luna out of the way, before the attack hit. The blue pegasus saw the shocked looks on the princesses faces as the attack pierced through the red alicorn, like a spear through a fish. It was messy, and it wasn't pretty either.
After a moment of silence, the corpse of the red alicorn fell to the ground. It landed with a loud thud, blood splashing onto the front of twilight.
A blood puddle grew over the grass at Twilight’s hooves, the mangled, pastel green mane of the alicorn laid wildly on the ground.
Fluttershy let out a scream and backed away, hiding behind Applejack. As the yellow pegasus hid, the 2 princesses landed in front of the mane 6, landing so heavily, it caused the ground beneath them to shudder violently. Both of their fronts were covered in blood, their eyes were filled with tears, and their expressions filled with anger.
Twilight’s ears folded back as she took off her crown, the haunting gaze of Princess Luna looking down on the alicorn. She attempted to explain herself “P-princess luna i-”
Before Princess Luna immediately cut her off, yelling so loud that it caused a gust of wind, that nearly blew the group of friends across the gardens
“THOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT THIS YOUNG ALICORN!! THIS WAS MY STUDENT!! THOU HAVE MADE A GRAVE MISTAKE TWILIGHT SPARKLE!!” Luna yelled out at the purple princess before taking Stardust’s lifeless body onto her back and walking away.
Princess celestia gave Twilight a very disappointed look, the other friends slowly backed away.
“Twilight sparkle i am severely disappointed in you. Jumping to conclusions and killing another pony? I thought you knew better. Maybe it was a mistake to make you the princess of friendship. Her tone was calm and collected, but her words stung like an angry hornet. The princess continued to speak, as 4 guards walked to her side, twilight’s ears folding back, and her eyes widening as celestia explained whats going to happen next.
“As of now, i am placing you under arrest for the murder of Princess Luna’s student: Stardust. Your trial date will be determined soon. At your trial you will stand in front of all of your subjects in Ponyville,along with myself, Luna and your friends. Guards… Get her out of my sight.
The 4 pegasus guards stood either side of Twilight Sparkle, escorting her away. The purple Princess looked at her friends, who all gave her angry looks, still wearing their elements as they followed Princess Celestia, to go after Luna.
Twilight’s eyes welled up with tears as she was escorted, the guards didn't say a word, nor did they look at her.
They decided to put her in an empty room in the castle basement. One of the guards slipped a ring on Twilight’s horn, limiting her magic to only simple spells like levitating things. She would be unable to teleport or use strong fighting spells.
They locked the door and bared up the windows before leaving. There was a flap at the bottom of the door, for guards to pass things through like packages and food. The room was just a stone cell, with a thin mattress for a bed. The window was at a good enough height for her to look out of, but all she saw was another part of the castle basement. Twilight curled up in a ball on the floor and wept quietly. She had made a grave mistake, all because she didn't think to investigate further.
A few months passed, and twilight had ignored any packages or scrolls that were sent to her, and they began to gather up in the corner of the room. The purple princess heard a knock on the door, as a guard spoke up.
“Princess Twilight Sparkle. The funeral for Stardust has been held. Your trial will be in 1 month. I suggest you take a look at this as well, its from Rarity.”
The guard opened the flap on the door, a small scroll was slid through along with a tray of food for her.
The purple alicorn didnt move from her spot on the floor, her horn ignited and slid the tray closer, the ribbon around the scroll was undone, and she began to read the scroll.
“Dear Twilight Sparkle.
I am writing to give you an update on everybody.
Fluttershy has managed to expand her cottage and take care of so many more animals, she has even been given permission to visit Cerberus on occasion and keep him calm, so he doesnt get out again.
Rainbow Dash has now become the leader of the wonderbolts, and they’re currently on tour around equestria. I believe they’re coming to canterlot the day this arrives.
Pinkie Pie has taken ownership of Sugarcube Corner. Allowing the cakes to have an early retirement and take better care of their children. Business there has grown better than ever before, and people all across equestria have been traveling just to try Pinkie’s flavor combinations.
Applejack has made her own business for the sake of Sweet Apple Acres. Since Pinkie Pie makes rather sweet treats like cupcakes and muffins. Applejack has been practising making pastries using Zap Apple Jam. Since Applebloom has got a lot stronger, the harvest has been extremely successful, and they harvested almost every single tree.
And myself? Business is growing as usual, ive managed to add multiple shops to my branch, going to places like Applusa.
Now that updates are out of the way. I have some bad news. We have all come to the conclusion that you are not fit to lead the elements of harmony. So we have put Starlight Glimmer in your place. I'm sure you can understand, but we need to keep equestria safe, and we cant have you leading us, because of whats happened.

Twilight burst into tears, covering her face with her front hooves.
Chatter filled the courtroom, it was filled with ponies from Ponyville.
The mayor walked in with a monotone expression on her face. She took her opposition at her podium, and tapped her gavel, grabbing the attention of the audience, before she spoke up.
“Today we are here to witness the trial of Princess Twilight Sparkle. For the murder of Princess Luna’s student, Stardust. Bring in the defendant.”
The mayor ordered.
4 unicorn guards walked in, with Twilight Sparkle in the middle of them. She was a mess. Her mane was long and knotted, she had bags under her eyes and her wing feathers were bent and dishevelled. She had a large metal cuff around her body, restricting her wings. She had the magic restricting ring around her hron, and she had chained cuffs on her hooves that filled the room with rattling as she walked.
She looked at the viewing balcony, to see the 2 princesses there along with her friends and spike.
”We will begin this trial with explaining the princesses point of view on the scenario. Your highness, if you may.”
They mayor turned to the princesses, giving a respectful bow before allowing them to speak.
“Of course… Stardust had been my pupil ever since she had moved to canterlot. To give more insight on why she was there. She was the daughter of King Sombra, she was born before the takeover of the Crystal Empire. She had remained hidden for hundreds upon hundreds of years. Living in the shadows of my night, and keeping her features hidden, as she knew what her appearance would cause.
But one day she slipped up and our guards found her in the castle gardens. They escorted her to my sister and I, and I decided to take her under my wing. I taught her everything I knew about stars and how to make the night sky even more beautiful than it already was.
We let her live in the castle under our protection, but we still let her go out to see the streets at night, while everything was still open. We had used a cloak that Rarity had made, to keep her features hidden.
The night of her murder, we were doing our nightly duties, raising the moon and filling the sky with stars, before we decided to have a bit of fun before going back to our duties.
We had stopped to admire the view and…”
Princess Luna had to stop, before she butter into tears in front of the citizens of ponyville. Princess celestia put a comforting hoof over Princess Luna’s shoulder, before speaking up herself.
“the elements were activated in the middle of the castle gardens. I had noticed it before the attack was fired, I tried to fly toward Stardust to protect her, but i wasn't fast enough. Stardust had protected Luna from the crossfire before she got hit. And well… you all know the rest.”
The citizens of ponyville were shocked at this and all turned to look at their former princess.
Everyone explained their side of the story, twilight included. Before the judge spoke up.
“We will take a short break to discuss Princess Twilight Sparkle’s sentence. We will return shortly. the Mayor spoke up before going through the door beside her with the jury, and the 2 princesses.
The group of friends looked at Twilight, all except for Spike. He couldn't bring himself to look at Twilight, her closest friend had done something unforgivable.
“I know you all think of me as the most terrible pony alive. But i just want to say, before the mayor returns. That I am truly and deeply sorry for what I have done. My mind got the better of me, and a life was lost because of it.
I hope all 5 of you do well with Starlight, and take care of each other… And Fluttershy?”
Twilight spoke, trying to get fluttershy’s attention, which it did. The yellow pegasus didnt say anything, but she turned to look her friend in the eye.
“Take care of Spike… I can't think of anyone better than you to do that.”
The court was filled with a deafening silence as the mayor shortly returned.
“Citizens of Ponyville, Elements of Harmony, Princesses Celestia and Luna… Myself and the jury have come to a decision… Princess twilight sparkles. For the murder of Stardust, the student of Princess Luna. You are sentenced to death, the date of your execution is currently pending. Please return to your cell and we shall inform you of the date, once it has been decided.
The mayor banged her gavel once more, and the guards escorted her away, and the crowds all dispersed.
The day of Twilight’s execution rolled around, and the princesses were standing at the entrance to the basement. 4 guards accompanying them.
“Bring her out. I want to see one one last time before she is executed…
The guards nodded as they made their way to Twilight’s cell, one of the unicorns taking out the keys and unlocking the door, with a loud clang, the door opened, and the guards froze.
A broken metal cuff was on the ground, and a magic restricting ring was on the ground alongside it. There was a large hole in the wall, with daylight shining through from the ceiling above.
”S-she… Shes gone”

They mayor turned to the princesses, giving a respectful bow before allowing them to speak.
“Of course… Stardust had been my pupil ever since she had moved to canterlot. To give more insight on why she was there. She was the daughter of King Sombra, she was born before the takeover of the Crystal Empire. She had remained hidden for hundreds upon hundreds of years. Living in the shadows of my night, and keeping her features hidden, as she knew what her appearance would cause.
But one day she slipped up and our guards found her in the castle gardens. They escorted her to my sister and I, and I decided to take her under my wing. I taught her everything I knew about stars and how to make the night sky even more beautiful than it already was.
We let her live in the castle under our protection, but we still let her go out to see the streets at night, while everything was still open. We had used a cloak that Rarity had made, to keep her features hidden.
The night of her murder, we were doing our nightly duties, raising the moon and filling the sky with stars, before we decided to have a bit of fun before going back to our duties.

Princess Luna had to stop, before she butter into tears in front of the citizens of ponyville. Princess celestia put a comforting hoof over Princess Luna’s shoulder, before speaking up herself.
“the elements were activated in the middle of the castle gardens. I had noticed it before the attack was fired, I tried to fly toward Stardust to protect her, but i wasn't fast enough. Stardust had protected Luna from the crossfire before she got hit. And well… you all know the rest.”
The citizens of ponyville were shocked at this and all turned to look at their former princess.
Everyone explained their side of the story, twilight included. Before the judge spoke up.
“We will take a short break to discuss Princess Twilight Sparkle’s sentence. We will return shortly. the Mayor spoke up before going through the door beside her with the jury, and the 2 princesses.
The group of friends looked at Twilight, all except for Spike. He couldn't bring himself to look at Twilight, her closest friend had done something unforgivable.
“I know you all think of me as the most terrible pony alive. But i just want to say, before the mayor returns. That I am truly and deeply sorry for what I have done. My mind got the better of me, and a life was lost because of it.
I hope all 5 of you do well with Starlight, and take care of each other… And Fluttershy?”
Twilight spoke, trying to get fluttershy’s attention, which it did. The yellow pegasus didnt say anything, but she turned to look her friend in the eye.
“Take care of Spike… I can't think of anyone better than you to do that.”
The court was filled with a deafening silence as the mayor shortly returned.
“Citizens of Ponyville, Elements of Harmony, Princesses Celestia and Luna… Myself and the jury have come to a decision… Princess twilight sparkles. For the murder of Stardust, the student of Princess Luna. You are sentenced to death, the date of your execution is currently pending. Please return to your cell and we shall inform you of the date, once it has been decided.
The mayor banged her gavel once more, and the guards escorted her away, and the crowds all dispersed.
The day of Twilight’s execution rolled around, and the princesses were standing at the entrance to the basement. 4 guards accompanying them.
“Bring her out. I want to see one one last time before she is executed…
The guards nodded as they made their way to Twilight’s cell, one of the unicorns taking out the keys and unlocking the door, with a loud clang, the door opened, and the guards froze.
A broken metal cuff was on the ground, and a magic restricting ring was on the ground alongside it. There was a large hole in the wall, with daylight shining through from the ceiling above.
”S-she… Shes gone”

Y'know I'm actually disappointed in Luna and Celestia for multiple reasons.
You would think of all the things Luna has done as Nightmare Moon that she would understand Twilight. Luna wanted to bring eternal night for what, jealous of her sister? And that only got her punished for 1000 years, Luna would have ended the world because without sunlight everything would die. But twilight kills 1 pony thinking she was trying to protect Celestia and Luna And that causes her to get punished by death!? What about all the things Discord or Chrysalis has done? And what were there punishments?
And what about all the times Twilight saves Equestria? They make it sound so easy to replace Twilight, they even replace her for the element of magic which by the way shouldn't be possible, the elements of harmony are what chooses the bearers, not the other way around.
Looking at this through Twilight's perspective, I feel really bad for her.
