Jojo groaned as the sun's rays filtered through their bedroom window and disturbed their sleep. Their first instinct was to throw their blankets over their head and snuggle deeper into their comfy, comfy bed. But they knew better. Jojo had an interview today, and they really, really needed a new job. Sighing, they reluctantly tossed their blankets off and slid to the edge of the bed, feet dangling as they rubbed their eyes.
Jojo stayed like this for about a minute before yawning and forcing themself to stand and stretch. Mornings were always the hard part, Jojo thought. Mornings were the part where you had to deal with existing and being part of a society. Disgusting.
Still, Jojo persisted, clumsily fumbling with their room's door and walking out into their apartment's kitchen, where their roommate Drew was making eggs.
"Mornin'," Jojo mumbled.
Drew glanced over at Jojo before doing a double-take. He held a confused, constantly micro-shifting expression before finally deciding to speak up. "Hey, uh... Jojo? You feeling okay?"
Jojo opened the fridge and began their morning routine of staring into the fridge, not really knowing what they actually wanted out of it. "Mmm-hm? Wassup?"
Drew's mouth opened and closed a couple of times, before finally finding the words. "Why are you Legosi from Beastars right now?"
"I... what?" Now it was Jojo's turn to stare at Drew. The two stared at each other in confusion for a few seconds before Drew reached out and grabbed something behind Jojo's back. "Gah! What the...?" Jojo looked back at what felt weird, only to find that they were looking back at a grey wolf tail sticking out over their sleep pants. "Tail...?"
Jojo's mouth, or rather muzzle, did its best imitation of Drew's from earlier, opening and closing wordlessly as their brain raced to figure out what was going on. "Well that's... different."
"So, uh," Drew let go of Jojo's tail awkwardly, rubbing his hand against his pants to remove any shed fur, "I'm guessing this is also new to you?" The sizzling eggs and slight burning smell reminded him of his breakfast. He quickly grabbed the spatula, moving his slightly-burnt eggs to a plate.
"Yeah... very." Jojo looked at their new clawed hands. "Not exactly a downgrade if I'm being honest, so I'm not too concerned?"
Drew laughed, almost snorted. "God, that's so much like you. Good to know there aren't any weird mental changes with the physical ones."
Jojo chuckled. "Yeah, fair enough. I think I prefer being me, even when I'm not." Jojo groaned and rubbed their eyes. "This interview is going to be weird, though."
Drew flipped off the stovetop and opened the silverware drawer. "What kind of job is this one again? A WERE-house worker?" He grinned.
Jojo rolled their eyes. "Nice pun, dork. No, it's actually more awkward than that. Pet shop employee."
"Ha!" Drew guffawed. "Seriously? That's amazing. Maybe you can be their mascot instead!"
Jojo stuck their tongue out awkwardly, not used to its new length. "Nerd."
"Ditto." Drew grabbed a fork and moved past Jojo, setting the plate of eggs on the kitchen table. "So any idea what could've caused this?"
Jojo shrugged. "If I angered a furry otaku witch or something, I clearly didn't notice." Their stomach growled. "Bluh, this can wait until after breakfast."
"Agreed." Drew stuck the first bite of egg in his mouth.
Jojo went back to staring into the fridge. Today was going to be a weird day.

It's been a while since my last upload so I figured I'd write a little something.
Also... I'm open for writing commissions again! Price is $25 per page, rounded to the nearest page (1 page is around 500 words). This story would be $25 based on length. Hope you'll take a look at my writing and decide I'm worth it!
