Another beautiful piece of art by Taleea.
This is the aqualorica bush. Its leaves are fat, translucent, water-laden, and have a bitter citrus taste. These bushes act as solid watering holes in Kaleida's dryer areas. The translucence of the leaves combined with their tendency to grow in sunny areas means that they look gem-like and overall, stunning!
The aqualorica's bitterness makes it too potent for most animals to tolerate in large amounts, so while chewing on aqualorica leaves is better than dying of thirst, it's a pretty unpleasant experience in its own right, at least past a certain point. With that said, the mukash and kasulam use them as a herb in their cooking to impart a bright, citrus flavour. Salt - common enough, especially in cooking on the coast - helps temper the bitterness.

Planned ret-cons: I'd like to specify whereabouts on Kaleida these live with a range indicated on a map. I suspect the leaves would be paler than shown here, perhaps heading towards yellow, but I'll see.
What is Kaleida?
Kaleida is a worldbuilding project without a storyline or individual characters. Most of my clients come to me with stories and characters and treat worldbuilding as an after-thought, so I'm doing the opposite and focusing solely on my worldbuilding. This species is a result of my research on how to create an alien ecosystem, which I wrote as a blog series. Read it here.

Another beautiful plant!! About how big do these guys grow to? They feel like they might prove some nice shade, too.
Would I be able to just collect a ton and squeeze them into a bottle of sorts? Or would the bitter taste just make that a really gross idea
While they can definitely make a diner sick if too many of them are eaten, would they also be a viable thing to make someone eat to throw something up that could be potentially dangerous to said diner?
