After Haida's car breaks down in the middle of the road, he gets help from a stranger. Later, he eats some blueberries from the dog's house that he might regret eating.

It was late at night, dark and quiet with the chilly weather breezing in his face as his windows were down in his red toned truck. Haida the brown-furred hyena with black spots underneath his white office shirt with a red tie and black pants. He was coming home from a long day of work from his office, which was boring and dull like every day he goes through. Luckily, his day off was tomorrow so he can finally relax as he should. Just a couple of miles down the dark empty road and he’ll be home sweet home. Of course, he shouldn’t have jinxed it when his truck’s engine was starting to act funny. The tired hyena sighs with annoyance and frustration. “You gotta be kidding me.” The truck slows down with clinks and clanks like how the printer would break down during work. He pulls off to the side of the road and stops the car completely. With a soft slap on the wheel, he sighs again. “From all the nights this could have happened…..” He had to take his word back since if his truck did break down during a work night, his boss would have some issues with him. “Might as well see what the problem is.” So the hyena gets out of the car and slams his door hard enough for his truck to shake a little bit. On the front of the truck, he could see smoke coming out from the hood like there was a fire. “Oh no, please don’t be on fire.” He said, praying that it wasn’t going to be as bad as he thought it was going to be. When he opens up the warm hood, smoke flies right in his face. Haida coughs and gas aggressively like he’s a smoker. “Ack! Too much!” He stepped back away from his smoking truck and kept on coughing the smoke out of his lungs. Once he was in the clear, he went back to his truck to see the damage. Inside, the battery looked burnt to the crisp with wires smoking out. No way did he have a spare car battery to start his engine again, not to mention the dangers of burning himself. “Great, no way I can fix this.” He said, giving up on the hope of fixing his car. He slams the hood in anger and lands his paws on top, ignoring the warming of the hood burning him. Just then, someone shouts something at the hyena.
“Hello!” The stranger calls out, alerting Haida as he turns his head towards the location of the voice calling out to him. There lies a person, a golden retriever anthro wearing a black coat and some jeans. He didn’t know where he came from or who he was. At least he was lucky that someone found him on the empty road. “Car trouble?” The dog asks, walking up to him to get a better look at the guy.
“Yeah, it just broke down as I was trying to get home.” He pulls out his phone to see if he can call a tow truck to pick his car up to the mechanic shop. Of course, the only thing that’s worse than a broken truck is no cell service. Again, he sighs with frustration. “Great, now I can’t call anyone with no service here.” He puts his phone in his pocket as it was useless at the moment.
“Yeah, you can’t reach anyone from here. You can use the phone line at my place to call for someone.” The dog insisted as Haida smiles and greatly appreciates that.
“Yeah, thank you very much.” Unfortunately, he had to leave his truck behind since there’s no way the two of them can push the truck that easily. So Haida just follows the stranger into the woods, some part in him saying that it may be a trap. As they reached further into the woods, there was a small log cabin with its lights on and a chimney with smoke coming out. The place outside looks much cleaner and nice than his own apartment room. Still, the mind of danger lurks in his mind, as if he was helping out this guy to commit a crime or two. “So….you have a phone line you say?”
The golden retriever turns to him with that same smile. “Yep. You won’t have to worry about it cutting off or disconnecting. I’ll show you where it is.” As they get close to the front door, the dog pulls out a key and unlocks it. Opening it, Haida could see how spectacular the place was. It had that nice fresh smell of lavender and roses, the fire warming up the room, and even the scenery in his vision was so clear with no dust or stains anywhere. He couldn’t help but stare at the room, about to forget what he came here for. “Umm, the phone is right over here.” The dog tells him, getting the hyena out of the trance.
“Oh right.” He chuckles shyly and heads over to the phone to call the mechanic that he normally goes to for repairs. As he makes the call, the golden retriever seems to be doing something. At the couch, in front of the fireplace, there was a coffee table with a bowl full of blueberries on it. He picks up the bowl and examines it for some reason. The dog then sniffs the bowl to get that strong scent of blueberries. “Alright, thank you, bye.” Haida hangs up the phone, finishing up the call. “Good news, they’ll take my truck to the shop. I can get a ride from them as they arrive.”
“That’s nice. I’m glad I was able to help out.” He puts the blueberries down on the coffee table again. “Oh, I’m Stan by the way.” Stan said as he forgot to mention what his name is. “What’s yours?”
“Haida.” He said, holding out his paw for a handshake. Stan looks at his paw and takes his paw and shakes it. “Is there any way I can repay you?”
“It’s fine really. Like I said, just glad to help out.” Stan gets his paw back and proceeds to make his way into his bedroom, probably to do something. Haida was just lucky to have this dog save his night. “I guess you’ll be on your way now?”
“Yeah, I should head back to my car.” Haida said as he felt like he was ready to go. Of course, he couldn’t help but look at the bowl of blueberries. He was getting a bit hungry from a long day of work and he hadn’t eaten dinner yet. To Haida, he thought that it didn’t hurt to eat a couple of blueberries although he should ask before taking some. But then, his stomach growls with desperation. So he decides not to ask and just gets a pawful of the blueberries and shoves it in his greedy mouth. The taste of the blueberries were sweet and tart like it should be. He swallowed it and even if it wasn’t enough to fully satisfy him, at least he ate something. He took a moment to check his phone one last time just in case there was any signal inside the cabin. Still, there wasn’t and no way he could get any by moving an inch. That’s when he believes that it was his time to leave but just before he could reach the front door, he noticed something in the mirror that hangs on the wall. It was his face, most likely his nose. It was blue, like the same color as the blueberries he had just eaten. At first, he thought that it was just some juice that he got when he was eating them, but when he rubbed his nose, it only got worse. Not only was it not coming off, but it was also spreading and turning his entire snout blue. “What the…'' Haida has never seen anything like this before. Was he allergic to the blueberries, he thought to himself. The hyena stares at the mirror before looking down at his paws to watch them change from a brown color to a dark blue. Even his shirt could show the blue color that’s spreading underneath. His entire head, arms, torso, back, legs, and even his tail were all blue. Haida worries that he may have made a huge mistake eating some blueberries. “Hey Stan, I think I need your help again.” He called out to him, but there was no reply. The hyena whines and groans once he starts to feel funny and weird, like how his shirt and pants were getting tighter on him like they were shrinking. Then the sounds of growling and bubbling fill his ears as they droop back in fear. After feeling heavy each second, he notices the bulging of his belly and thighs that stretches out his clothes. It felt like he was gaining weight nonstop and it scared him very much since he’s kind of a guy who wants to stay skinny. His butt, bwomping out of nowhere, almost makes him lose his balance. Right now, his body was nothing but a heavy bottom shape, The buttons on his shirt stretched out to where gaps of blue fur could be seen. His belt tightens his waist before it burst and lets out more room for his sides and butt to grow. “AH! Help!” He calls out for Stan, still getting no response. His legs become useless and stiff, making it impossible to move on his own. His arms lay on his sides as they were round and bloated outwards. His chest connects with his belly, giving him that spherical shape while his buttons, one at a time, popped and exposed his fluffy and blue juicy body. His cheeks swell up to the sizes of tennis balls, also making him unable to speak. “MMFFFH!” He muffles as his arms sink into his round body, leaving him with wiggling paws and feet as he rocks side to side. His head almost touches the ceiling but his body stops swelling up. Haida keeps on muffling as he was now an immobile blueberry who was too big to even fit through any doorway. He kept on flailing his paws around and whining.
Finally, Stan came out of his bedroom after hearing some noises coming from his living room. Once there, he realizes what had just happened to his new friend. “Oh dear…..” He had no words on what to say besides, “You’re huge, Haida!” Stan places a paw on his belly, pressing on it as juice sloshes around inside. Embarrassed by this, Haida’s cheeks turn red like cherries and whine even louder. “Did you eat those blueberries that were on my table?” Stan asks as all he got from the ripe hyena was a muffled yes. Later on, after examining the juicy hyena, Stan’s expression went from shocked into a calm friendly kind. “Heh, I guess Ryan was right about those blueberries, they can put some extra juice into you.” Stan, at the moment willing to play around with the berry, rubs and brushes his round gut. “It’s amazing what they can turn a fur into with a couple.”
“Mmf!?” He still wanted to be back to his normal size and needed to get back to his truck before the tow truck people swung by to pick it up.
“Relax, I can help you get home soon, my cute berry.” Just then, he leans into Haida, slowly rolling over onto his back as Stan was now on top of him. “I’ll figure out a way to get you back to size, but I’m feeling…..” He yawns and stretches his arms out. “Sleepy at the moment. You should get some rest too.”
At first, the hyena rebels to that suggestion, moving his paws around and letting out soft growls. But it was too late and Stan fell asleep quickly like he didn’t get any for a few days. With the dog, and his only way to get him deflated, passed out on his sloshing huge body, Haida keeps it calm. For a while, he seemed fine with being a berry since it started to feel good. Like how he got to grow not only wider, but taller. The sloshing sounds of the juice also soothes him as if he was hearing water rushing down a stream or waves from the ocean. So maybe he was wrong about being a blueberry and should love it. As soon as he too feels tired, he decides that he should rest until his friend can get him fixed soon. He closes his eyes and his ears only listen to the juice moving around until his brain fully shuts down.

He wakes up, strangely active like he had a nightmare not too long ago. His heart beats faster than normal, he breathes hard and rough, and his eyes are wide. Haida looks around, only to find out that he was back in his apartment. Not only that, but it looked like he was small and skinny again instead of being huge and a round berry. He looks at the alarm clock that sits beside him which reads 4:21 AM. The hyena thought that it was all a dream and that work must have been the cause of it. Right next to his alarm clock was his phone, charging on the nightstand. He sluggishly picks it up and the brightness of his phone blinded him so badly, that he had to quickly turn it down. After doing that, he goes through his notifications from friends, work associates, apps that he uses, and even a miss call from what seemed like spam. As he opens his phone up and checks the messages, he notices a new contact on his phone. The name read Stan, as in Stan the dog he had seen in his dream, or he still thought it was a dream. It confuses him as to why he had his contact number if he never even asked for his phone number, or how got it in the first place. All of these questions drive around inside his head, thinking if he’s still dreaming or just not in his right mind. Not being able to sleep again, Haida gets up from his bed and heads right into the bathroom. He turns on the light switch that blinds his eyes and he had no choice but to rub and shut his eyes. After adjusting them to the light, he took a moment and realized that something wasn’t right about him. His nose was still blue, like the beginning of that transformation he went through. Haida wasn’t sure if it was something else or if that dream really came true. He was afraid to rub it since the last time he did it, it didn't work well. But the hyena needed to know if it was there permanently or not. Slowly taking his paw to his nose, he rubs it. The blue didn’t come off after all but it didn’t spread. Which leads to the question if he had actually become a blueberry or was this something else that he should be concerned about?
