For the Innistrad: Midnight Hunt set! I had to rush this one ever so slightly as I was on a time crunch, but boy it was fun getting to do some spookier pieces and trying to work with these limited palettes. This is also my first mythic rare card!

It's for Magic: the Gathering (a card game)! Each set does have a story to it and this particular wolf is one of five "adversaries" that more or less chase each other through a haunted mansion, but I can't say I'm familiar with the lore exactly, you'd have to look it up if you're curious.
I was really hoping they'd give you some sort of wolf or werewolf for this set! I've been peeking at the spoilers eagerly awaiting if they would
The atmosphere of this piece is excellent! And congrats on getting to illustrate a card that's likely going to show up on a LOT of tables!

Thanks so much! I wasn't big into MtG when Innistrad first came out, but it certainly was an immediate classic and favorite plane of many and I was super stoked to learn that they were going back there while I was working for them! It's not often that I get to do darker pieces and monsters and this plane is all about that.
This reminds me of a quote about another large predator.
“To say a tiger is an "outside" animal is an understatement that is best appreciated when a tiger is inside.”
-The Tiger: A true story of vengeance and survival
I think it's fair to say that that's too much woofer for inside. :)

This piece is lovely! But, the fact that WotC didnt give you a werewolf project is so unfortunate. You did such a nice piece for Partiarch's Bidding (that they did a disservice to with their printing), I was really looking forward to see which cards you were going to have in this set (since your creature-pieces are stunning). Keep up the great work, and I cannot wait to see what you do next!
