Venus loomed over the Earth, curious as to what changed during her slumber. It had been millions of Earth-years since she'd last seen the planet, and she found it fascinating how life had evolved since her last visit. Admittedly she also found it amusing to see the planet's inhabitants scurrying about in response to her imposing presence.
"How would they react to a little heat?" Venus wondered.
She redirected some body heat to her palms and hovered them over the planet, being careful not to touch the surface directly. Most planetary civilizations she did this to were able to adapt accordingly, how would Earth's inhabitants fare?
Panic turned to mass hysteria as continents began to burn and oceans started to boil. A thick layer of steam enveloped the globe emerged as more and more water sources dried up, leaving desolate basins behind. Tali looked up at Venus from Earth's surface as grass burned and buildings melted around her. She was at once smitten by Venus' appearance and terrified of her overwhelming power. A conversation with an ancient zeibeast was something Tali had wanted for years, but first she had to somehow get Venus' attention and survive the catastrophic ordeal.
Mew2 did really good work on this commission, check out the original here!.
This is somewhat of a follow-up to Venus' original drawing. My original thought was to have Venus be merely an observer here, but as the commission progressed I thought it'd be more interesting to have the Earth affected by her presence. We thought of giving Venus the ability to selectively control where her body radiated heat, which I think was a great idea that resulted with the cool visual of her palms glowing red! The steam around the Earth came out a lot better than I expected too. Overall I'm very satisfied with how this turned out.

Yeah, If Venus wanted to wipe out a planet, it'd be easier to smash it. I'd be interested to see how civilisation adapts to what she did since her thoughts imply that being able to do so is the norm.
If she wants to compensate, she could partially terraform Mars for them by thickening it's atmosphere & heating it up. She may be restricted to CO2, but that would still be partially helpful because it means terraforming it to human's needs would be quicker.
