Ah shit that is cool, I guess they can detect the sun thus they shine; because to the naked eye people forgot what the sun looked like.

Yeah, that's essentially the idea. Permanently overcast desert, and these stones capturing the little light that comes through the clouds.

Oh, this is a pretty cool idea for a setting. A bit of a different take on mushroom stones. The one on the back left helps emphasize that it's capturing the small bits of sunlight and that they don't just glow.

Boy, the mushroom kingdom sure has changed sense I last came here. just kidding! Wonderful as always, definitely getting a hard times vibe. Like a large volcano eruption and this is one of the few safe refuge in a long journey between the few surviving civilizations.

Who would have thought the Mushroom kingdom could become so hostile?
All kidding aside, i like the ideal off these giant solar collectors in an unforgiving black desert, were the sun is rare and the heat oppressive but the water rarely if ever falls
