Well, we wanted to end August on the Summercation, but we realized we had an extra day before the hiatus of a different thing going on. But, luck would have it, today's the anniversary of a game release that me and Rigel recently finished awhile ago. So, irony. Plus, Rigel probably needs something to talk about after the uhh...freezing stuff.
Thanks Az heh heh. But yeah! Recently finished a blind play through of Control! And boy was it interesting. I went in with expectations like secret organizations and investigation into weird things, like a mix between X-Files and MIB...and got something kind of like that. The weirdness of everything, from the Objects of Power, to Altered World Events, and even the Oldest House itself rearranging around is so bizarre!
All throughout the game are these weird things, but at the same time, there's a sort of "normal" to it. There are office memos, protocol, offices, post-it notes (don't get me started on THAT room heheh), that gives the impression that all this amazing stuff that you experience in the game is, practically, 'bar normal' for people here. I mean, it's just standard procedure to deal with duplicating manikins and a bathtub duck that teleports around quacking---
Good thing too, that duck was seeming menacing...
I know right? I was so freaked out about that! But honestly, the environment is just so...interesting, a mixture of the amazing and the mundane that a part of you kinda wishes that life were like that. But then you got things like the Hiss that just wants to take you over. But of course, none of that is too difficult if you're the director...who has this morphing...apparently...whispering...gun...
Yep, you freaked out.
It was talking! I swear! But anyway...apparently you also get powers from the Board, who basically are like these other beings that run things in the background. While shields and levitation are cool...nothing beats the first power you get. Telekinesis! Honestly, I had so much fun with this thing! The Service Weapon may have to reload on it's own, but that's fine, gives ya time to use this awesome ability to fling practically anything at an enemy! Not to mention, power that up to it's max, and you can almost one-shot most!
Overall, the game is a lot of fun, filled with quirky characters, neat powers, and weird situations in a mundane setting that's just so eerie I very much enjoyed myself.
I will also give out props for the Ultimate Edition...it ACTUALLY has the DLC content on-the-disc.
That's right! We were able to enjoy the extra Foundation and AWE dlc! The former helps wrap up a loose end I was honestly wondering about and the AWE...weeelll...lets say the AW may stand for something other than Altered World and more alone..."something" Wake hehehe. But it was certainly a trip to see what they did with that for sure!
Control ends on a definitive note in some ways, with staff low and recovery process and clean-up going on, so doubt there is a sequel...but it's open enough that it's ripe for the imagination of anybody who enjoys the game and it's concepts of normal and paranormal 'Nailed' together hehehe.
....seriously that telekinesis was so overpowered...
Well to be fair, I didn't use the shield much heh heh, so I had to be careful.
