Another awesome piece, Teranen, I love your R63 series! Personally, I always find it humorously ironic whenever I see a "genderbent" Tails though, considering that Tails WAS originally female before Sega changed the design (totally understandable reasons, granted). That's not meant as a criticism toward any genderbent Tails art, I personally just have a chuckle at it like "that's not genderbent or R63, that's how the character is supposed to be lol".
That rumor was actually debunked three years ago by Tails' creator, Yasushi Yamaguchi, on their Pixiv account.

So after a minute of digging around, I happened upon the post I believe you're referring to here on Yasushi Yamaguchi's (otherwise known as Judy Totoya) Pixiv: https://www.pixiv.net/en/artworks/66573542
Since I'm only fluent in english, bad english, and sailor, I had to rely on Google Translate for this, but here's what the main relevant portion comes out to:
"At first, I was a girl because of misinformation, and I wasn't used to drawing the dummy title screen that I drew in time for the game show, so I misunderstood the game magazine because I put too much hair on my chest. It all started when I introduced him as a girl.
At the design stage, the age has not been decided yet, and she is set to be 8 years old, but I personally designed it with the image of about 5 years old.
I was told internally that her car was Lotus Super Seven because it wasn't supposed to be now, and that Sonic's car was a Countach, so I set him as well."
I'm going to assume that a couple of those "I"s in the first sentence aren't supposed to be "I", but that's Google Translate for you. Regardless, according to this, even the creator initially introduced Tails as a girl.
