Spyro’s maw and paw adventure
Draft looked over at Sol for a moment as he started to park the car. The brown haired man seemed unimpressed as he looked at the restaurant in the middle of the park. It seemed like Sol didn’t expect the place his friend had talked up so much would be so plain looking.
“Can’t believe we’re only just now getting here. I’m telling you, the pancake place may not have the most amazing name, but it’s breakfast menu is to die for.” He chuckled nervously, hoping Sol wouldn’t believe he’d wasted their time coming out here.
Sol rolled his eyes, starting to pull off his seatbelt. “Eh, I’m sure it’s good bud, but there have to be cooler places left to show me in town. With how much you talk up your life here in Ignisvale, I was kinda expecting a trip with a lot more surprises to it.” He quickly slipped out of the car, Draft soon following him out his own.
Sol quickly came to regret saying that, as two large purple paws came hurtling towards them. One of them flattened the car and the other the restaurant. Draft screamed as he somehow fell inbetween the toes of whatever owned these giant appendages. The pancakes around him were not the ones he expected to see.
“Sol are you okay?!?” Draft tried running away from the paws, hoping Sol hadn’t ended up under the purple soles of this beast. “Yell to me if you’re okay!”
As Draft was gripped by chaotic fear down below at the beast’s feet, their owner was feeling nothing but confusion as he looked about the tiny world around him. This giant was a purple dragon named Spyro, a visitor to this world. And at the moment, he was trying to find out how he’d yet to meet anyone after stepping through a portal into this realm.
“Well this is just bizarre Sparx. Usually by now we’d meet someone who needs help or something.” Spyro was speaking to a dragonfly as he said this, the bug a little more aware of why as he stared at the ground. “I mean, I suppose Gnasty Gnorc or someone usually stirs up trouble before we get here, but it’s like this place is completely abandoned, y’know?”
He giggled a bit, feeling something tickling his soles. He wondered if he’d maybe found a butterfly for Sparx, it would explain why his pal was staring at his feet right now. He looked down and felt his jaw go slack as he saw them. Two tiny peach colored creatures, one caught under his paw, the other trying desperately to tug the other out. He started to lean in closer, surprised as he started to pick up the things we’re having a conversation.
“Sol! I really am glad his paws are soft enough that they didn’t crush you like the car, can you maybe try and help push yourself out?!?” Spyro figured he should lift his claws a bit to help the pitiful thing, but was surprised to find their friend seemed to like it underneath.
“Gosh Draft, it feels like heaven under these things! They’re nice and moist, despite how heavy they are, his paws are like silk on my skin and don’t even get me started on how oddly sweet they taste.” Draft just groaned as he kept tugging at his wedged in partner.
Spyro wasn’t exactly sure why the small boy had decided to sample his feet, but he couldn’t help but smile at the compliment. The two humans were made aware of their audience when the purple giant chuckled. Spyro saw the two pale when they realized his eyes were on them, Draft falling back and shaking quite a bit. Not one to revel in others fear, he gently lifted his paw up till he saw Sol was able to get out.
“Whoa, and here I thought my pal Sparx was just hungry!” Spyro smirked as he lowered his neck a bit more. “Glad he didn’t mistake you little guys for butterflies. What are you two doing down there? Creatures bigger than you even tend to have more sense than to get in the path of a dragon.” He puffed up his chest with pride at the end of his sentence. His smile seemed to convey that he was more impressed than worried about why the micros were at his feet now.
Draft gulped a bit, glancing over at Sol for some idea of what to do. His brown haired companion however was having all fear replaced with awe and admiration. He wasn’t sure he or the purple giant were more incredulous about the fact the guy was already lovingly petting the paws that had nearly crushed him minutes ago.
“Um, well you’re not going to believe this… Mr. Dragon.” Draft could feel himself sweating. “We… um didn’t see you until you stepped on the restaurant we came to eat at.”
Spyro suddenly realized two things in that moment. One was that he had yet to give his names to the two, and the other was that he probably should be making sure he hasn’t stepped on anyone else. He lifted his paws up a bit, blushing a bit as he observed the absolutely flat contents underneath.
“Oh um… well that’s definitely a sight to make me consider cutting back on the lamb chops.” He nervously chuckled, scratching the back of his neck as he got one paw as far away from the building wreckage as he could manage. “You can call me Spyro by the way, the dragonfly buzzing around my head right now is Sparx. Think you guys mentioned your names were Sol and Draft? Which one are you to be clear?”
Draft was kinda impressed a beast this big could hear them talking clearly enough to pick up names. “Yeah that’s right, I’m Draft. What’s a dragon doing in Ignisvale though?”
Spyro sighed, smoke coming out of his nostrils as he heard that familiar question. We’re dragons really that rare in any place that wasn’t home? He began to talk, but then noticed Sol, still dangling on one of his toes. He carefully brushed the little guy up on top of his forepaw with one of his claws.
“Oh I was just chasing after Sparx. He noticed a new portal open up back home before I did and we just decided to check it out.” He was amused as Draft ran up to him, clearly wanting Sol to get down to safety. “You know I’m not going to hurt you right pal? Come climb up. Maybe you’ll be a little less scared if you don’t have to strain your neck to look me in the eye.”
Draft didn’t really see much logic there, but he also didn’t figure it be a good idea to put a friendly dragon in a bad mood. He quickly gripped one of the scales of the dragon, finding it pleasantly cool and soft due to the thin film of perspiration drying off of them. He wondered if Spyro’s sweat had some magical quality to it, as his hands felt soft and clean after the long climb to the top.
Sol gave a quick hug to Draft as he helped pull him onto the upper portion of the paw. “Nice to have you up here finally man! Know you were only expecting to treat me to a meal, but I think this is so much better.” He chuckled, breaking away as he noticed Spyro’s eyes on them, the giant slowly raising them up to his face. I mean I could get the best sleep of my life if I used Spyro’s paws for a mattress, and he’s fine with me just running about them. How could this day get any better?”
Spyro felt gears turning as he listened to Sol. He wondered if any of his dads had ever seen humans? Were most of them as cute and friendly as these little guys? Would anyone back home believe him if he didn’t go back with proof? And most importantly, if the little guys thought he was cool, how awesome would they find it if they met fully grown dragons?
“Well, not to cut myself short, but it’s not like you’ve met a fully grown dragon yet.” He smiled, seeing the little guys pale. “Oh don’t worry, my dads are actually more chill than me, but I bet you’d probably be impressed seeing them all. The portal to the dragon realm works both ways, so would you guys like to see it? I can take you right back once you’ve seen enough of it.”
The two humans shared a glance, before shrugging their shoulders. “Sure why not? You crushed our ride anyway, so not like we could go anywhere else.”
Spyro smiled before speaking to Sparx. “Hey bud, you fly on ahead while I make sure they’re comfy for the trip. Obviously can’t run with them standing on my paws.” The little dragonfly darted off, the humans wondering where Spyro planned to place them for the trip.
Their eyes widened as the saw Spyro’s tongue dart out of his maw. Before they could say anything, the purple dragon was licking his hand clean, slowly letting his teeth close around them. Spyro felt him drooling more than he expected to as he started to move after Sparx, humans sure did taste nice and salty.
Spyro wasn’t sure why he felt them moving around so much. He kept having to maneuver his tongue to ensure they didn’t stupidly slide down his throat. He was nervous to clear his throat of saliva they were moving about so much.
He grumbled a bit as he pushed them into his cheek before talking. “Will you guys settle down already? It’s not like I’m going to eat you or anything. Be very hard to show you to my dads if you’re in my belly. You two better behave there, I’d rather not have to pin you under my tongue.” He whipped it to demonstrate how strong his tongue was, chuckling as he felt them jump in response to it.
As the two were forced to calm down, Draft suddenly noticed how oddly comfortable it was in the maw. Warm saliva was pooling up where the two were sitting, the warm liquid making him feel like he was in a jacuzzi. The soft walls shook around them as Spyro started to run after Sparx outside, but in spite of that, he felt very calm while leaning against the soft almost gooey flesh.
Draft let a smile slip onto his face as he admired Spyro’s teeth, the dragon letting a bit of light into the cave as he breathed though his mouth. “You know Sol, so long as he’s not interested in eating us, maybe we could enjoy the part of the trip in here. Heck, it’s a pretty neat sight being in here. How many people do you know that have seen the inside of a dragon maw, much less live to tell about it?”
Sol was a little more nervous than his pal, keeping himself calm by rubbing Spyro’s tongue. The dragon seemed to like the activity, encouraging it with a light purr and an occasional full body lick back. Sol chuckled a bit each time this happened, but his mind was kept elsewhere.
“Draft, do you think we’re being stupid doing this? I mean Spyro isn’t even the biggest one, what happens if the others don’t like us?” He said this as they looked out of Spyro’s maw, a world Spyro’s size visible as Spyro started to walk towards the portal.
Draft just chuckled as he responded. “We couldn’t reasonably denied the smaller giant dragon either way Sol. Let’s just enjoy it while it lasts. If nothing else, Spyro is going to have a good time with us.”
Spyro suddenly closed his maw as he stepped into the portal. He didn’t know himself fully how his many, many caretakers would take to the tiny curiosities, but he didn’t let himself get concerned by that. For now, he was nothing but excited to be bringing the humans on a once in a lifetime adventure.
