In Kalasian culture, kissing is affectionate, but also sometimes an intimate gesture to express to one another. Family members keep things safe with nose kisses with either their upper or lower head. Couples or lovers kiss one another on the cheek to express a more forward expression of their love for one another (see above example). Kissing on the lips, however, is also done publicly. Though most consider this as a more forward gesture that they wish to 'get intimate' and soon.

Because of how Kalasians have sex and reproduce, as every Kalasian is hermaphroditic, any male or female Kalasians can carry a child. Due to how their bodies developed over millennia by whatever means (Kalasian evolution coming later), they lack any sex organs what so ever, and instead have a gland in their mouth that produces the seed needed. This transparent seed is mixed with their spit once they orgasm and transferred through kissing. At this point, partners have two choices when finished. Swallow or spit their partner's seed out. Swallowing the seed means they chose to have a child and travels through a closed-off third esophagus that transports the seed to their eggs. Spitting the seed out just means they won't great pregnant, leading to kalasians having safe sex.
