Oh boy, so this took a lot longer than I had hoped.

As mentioned in my WIP/Sketches post, my boyfriend
and I have been on a Pokémon nostalgia trip as of late. Perhaps more specifically, a Mewtwo/Nurse Joy trip. Many many eons ago he wrote a lemon fanfic ship of these two, and revisiting his story has greatly inspired me to draw out different illustrations with them.
This scene in particular was just a random idea I had (probably because of all the rain we got this spring). I wanted to just draw something that felt calm considering everything going on in the world, and see Mewtwo in a scene you might not usually see him in.
I've also been particularly interested in seeing Mewtwo, and the Pokemon anime in general, as it appeared back in the early days of the first movie and first few seasons, as that was a huge part of my childhood + favorite visual representation/art style and I miss the way everything used to look. So my goal with this illustration, and several other little projects I've been working on atm, was to try and replicate that as best as I could, plus just making it look like a scene straight out of a movie with just enough context to hopefully pique the viewer as to what is going on here. I really enjoy story telling so those types of illustrations interest me the most.
Interestingly enough, Falcon enjoyed the concept of this scene so much, he wrote out a new scene based on this illustration to continue his story, and has been messing with it on and off as inspiration strikes him. I keep nudging him to work on it again as he left it in limbo all those years ago due to real life circumstances, so we'll have to see where that goes. n_n
And btw for clarification, this is intended to take place involving the first movie Mewtwo and the same Nurse Joy about a year or so after the events from the movie. And yes I intend to share some more... intimate moments with these two.
I'll also be posting some close ups since poor Butterfree is barely visible on that thar teapot.

This is amazing! Where does one even start? That gorgeous background that looks like a scene that would be in an animated movie along the likes of something from Studio Ghibli. Mewtwo and Nurse Joy look wonderful and spot on, like they're actual cels straight out of the anime.
The amount of detail in this scene is incredible, from all the hand painted foliage, the reflection in the puddle, and the way the rain is affecting the scene. And that roof! Look at all the details in those roof tiles! It's insane. Everything is just so wonderfully done. It sets up such a wonderful relaxing, calm, and peaceful mood. Very serene. I love it and I hope you are very happy and proud of this piece, my love.

So, I originally saw this and several other of Lady-Owl's Mewtwo + Joy pictures on DeviantArt, and they are so very evocative that I am highly interested in reading the source story they are based off of! I am aware the story is of an adult nature, but I followed the links from DA over here to FA because I had thought that it -would- be posted up publically on this site at least...but apparently not? In either case H-Falcon, if you are willing to share again, here is another person who is highly interested in reading your story of the Mewtwo and Nurse Joy romance! I would be greatly appreciative if you could send me a link as well.
It's so nice, I love it! ^^ I have some old art on my dA whit Mewtwo x Joy if you like to see? xD It's not that great but anyway. https://www.deviantart.com/shhiro/gallery I hope you guys don't give up on this. Utterly stunning. I know exactly what you mean about the original anime style that Pokemon used to have. I grew up with that style and no matter how much I watch the newer seasons of the anime I can't help but feel that something is off. There was a simplicity mixed with a deep level of detail if that makes any sense.
Still incredible. I've really enjoyed all of your Joy and Mewtwo art and I'm now planning on finding H-Falcon's story. It sounds fascinating.
