In seemingly less time than it takes to flip a burger, Tucker had become a strange series of bulges moving down Dexter’s throat, but something strange had happened, the bulges that disappeared behind his ribs never reappeared. To the rest of the world he was still an ordinary dog, with the same bottomless stomach all dogs have. They couldn’t have known he had an entirely different kind of bottomless stomach, one that would never grow no matter how much it was fed. Luckily for the other partygoers, it wasn’t truly bottomless; he could be full and satisfied like any other dog, and he was now very satisfied, even causing him to trot as he went back to rejoin the party. After all, his secret was in no danger of being discovered, they only sign of Tucker left to the rest of the world was a light whimpering so quiet even Dexter couldn’t hear it over the sounds of conversation. He would return to play with the other dogs, but first he had to thank his host for the meal. He walked over next to the grill, standing where Tucker stood less than a minute ago. The man there pats Dexter on the side, blissfully unaware of what just happened as he says, “Sorry, there’s no food here for you either buddie.” With that Dexter rejoined the party. He played with the other dogs, lay in the soft grass, and enjoyed many pats, pets, and belly rubs, until it was time to return home.
Dexter now lay on the cool Livingroom floor, exhausted from the day’s activity. He was gonna like it here; there were so many wonderful dogs, and he was sure he would like them all.
