Heading to the battle field
I'll defend my nation
I'll fight hard
I'm the one man army

My part of a collaboration with foxamoore! He composed a beautiful character theme for vrika, and I created this illustration to accompany the music. Be sure to give it a listen > HERE <!

I went through your art to see, and picks up a few favorites of course because your art is amazing, while it does vary in quality a bit, for the most part your pieces all have enough life in them to not stand out.
In fact this one

stood out as one of the most expressive and nuanced pieces I've seen at this level of detail, I love it.
All in all, seriously, your art is fantastic and i can't wait to see more!

Absolutely impeccable. Love how he balances it against his upper back and shoulders. It's stunning how he is looking at us and right away we feel connected to him. Instead of his armor and sword representing some sort of danger and threat, the calmness in his eyes and pose show a valiant, yet composed and defined stance. The still background land projects this idea that he has come far to meet us, and the stones cradling the sides of the frame give this idea of protection, that we're only supposed to see the path ahead and the contrast between the clear land and the quiet but darkened sky. Masterfully done, caraid!
The entire scene is from my imagination - that is, I generally draw my poses, rough environments, composition etc. without the use of references to focus purely on the idea. For the rough colors I will sometimes look at references or other artworks for inspiration and to guide the color scheme. But when the time comes to start actually painting, that's when I look at references all the time, really. For the fur, for the face, for the armor (for which the character owner provided pictures, as his suit has the same outfit), for the rocks, for the vegetation. The only thing I didn't use references for is the clouds, hah.
I think this is one of those images you think about showing others outside the community to show them just how truly awesome the artists and the images and content they create can be! There's just so much to admire here; the background and how it fades into the darker clouds gives this piece such an interesting and complex lighting to it. I love the outfit and aesthetic here as well channeling a Scottish vibe, such a beautiful sword! The features and proportions of your anthro characters are truly some of the best I've seen and this incredible wolf is no exception. Amazing!
Cho moiteil ‘s a tha mi, de mo dhùthaich Alba. Tha mi cho taingeil gun do rinn thu seo gus ar neart a tha Dia air a thoirt dhuinn a riochdachadh. Cho gaisgeil is dòcha gum bi ar cridheachan, gum bi sinn a ’gluasad ann an slighe ar claidheamhan. Tha sinn dha-rìribh treun nar cridhe mar a tha thu airson seo a dhèanamh.
Tha mi, mi fhìn, nam neach-labhairt Gàidhlig dùthchasach, mar sin gabh ris an seo MÒR! Tapadh leibh, agus gu h-àrd ... Alba gu bràth!

I’m in awe at how astonishingly detailed this piece is. I quite honestly haven’t seen many artist with your level of skill and craft and it’s such a pleasure to see and take this in that I can’t even begin to process it’s magnificence all at once. Every minute detail simply breathes life into the picture. Ironically, while you’re breathing life into your work you’re also taking my breath away.
