An old m91/30 I grabbed at a pawn shop on a road trip once. It's all I have with me at the moment, so I'm trying lovingly to restore it. Chamber's having some trouble, cycling the bolt gets rough to say the least.
Izhevsk 1931 all-matching serials, bore's nice and shiney if anyone was wondering.

Aye, my brother is VERY happy with it. She was in service until 1970's
in 49 someone carved their initials into it. it's VERY nice and has SMOOTH bolt action
he prefers to use E-Talon ammo, not because E-talon is that good, but it's match quality and every bullet is within .0001 on ALL specs of each other. Extremely consistent.
there is also some Tungsten steel core ammo that'll punch a quarter sized hole right through 1/2 inch plate steel

ah yes, the 91/30, my first rifle! Trouble cycling the bolt, you say? by the ammo case sitting next to it, I'm guessing you use mil-surp?
Another problem could be some cosmoline in the chamber, this can be easily cleaned out by something like low odor mineral spirits, which is what I use and never really had any problems.

heh, I know how the wallet protesting is. Yeah, I'd try the winchester ammo, maybe do a full clip, see how the bolt cycles, and if it continues to mess up, I'd inspect the chamber and the bolt reeeealy good. Also, CORROSIVE mil-surp ammo! A000GA A000GA! Amonia does the trick!
I cleaned out the chamber with a .410 bore mop and some mineral spirits. That and using new ammo did the trick, but I've heard more extreme solutions are sometimes needed. Check out http://www.surplusrifle.com/ they have a good article on it.
