I Played “Spain” by Chick Corea on a street piano in Japan and the crowd loved it!

That's got to be the most in-tune public piano I've ever heard

If that clapping was anywhere else, by now they would be clapping in 14/80 time signature

チック･コリアの『スペイン』｡イントロにロドリーゴの『アランフェス協奏曲－第二楽章』の一部分を使う事で､音楽の枠をあっさりと取っ払うことで､音楽にはジャンルの区別などないとの音楽本来の持つ豊かさと奥行きの深さを表現する作品ですね｡
　日射しの強い南欧の國スペイン｡それには敵わないけれど､日射しを一杯に浴びての中での演奏が本当に素晴らしい｡軽やかなリズムとメロディラインの持つ力強さそして所々に鏤められるジャズ独特のアドリブ｡本当に贅沢な一時をたっぷりと堪能させていただきました｡その場に居合わせた聴衆の皆さんが羨ましい｡

I liked how you sort of mixed the traditional take of spain and then Chick's akoustic band take of it. You're super sick.

It took me like a week listening to this song over and over in different versions and speeds to figure out the timing in that syncopated part. Who knew the whole time I should have just been playing it in Japan and letting the audience clapping figure it out for me!

That's Chick's level, congratulations Jacob; You are global. I have also been surprised by the taste that the Japanese public has for jazz, in fact they have great artists in this genre. Finally, I am surprised that they have a well-tuned and good-sounding piano on the street.

That part of Japan is so underrated for visitors. I randomly decided to visit Yamagata & Yamadera on my first visit to Japan and is it to date one of the most beautiful experiences I've had. The people of that region were quite easy-going as well.

Spain is one of my favorite songs. Your new "Yamagata flavour" version is also phenomenal! I am sure that Chick would have loved this reharmonization!

The chromatic left hand ascensions gave me goosebumps every time. Absolutely genius. I thought this tune had been done to death and back by everyone already but this is amazing.

一時期携帯の呼び出し音にしていたぐらいスペイン大好きです！コリア氏亡き後も永遠に曲が生きてることに感謝し演奏してくださるJacobさんに深い敬意を覚えました。

To see him add his own complexity to a technically complex piece is otherworldly. Chick was one of the most technically gifted pianists ever.

Just imagining Chick's Spain surrounded by the locale of Japanese Jazz, it actually turned out so much more appropriate than I thought.
Or maybe I just love Spain haha

日本のこういう動画は馬鹿みたいに大音量で弾いてテンポもぐちゃぐちゃなものが多い。でもこの人はこんなにも脱力しておしゃれに弾くからすごい。

生ピアノ🎹で圧倒的な故チック・コリア師匠とリターン・トゥ・フォーエバーの名曲「Spain」を、こういう形でライブで初めて聴ける人たちが羨ましいです。自分はレコードやCDで聴いたのが最初でしたから、この場に居合わせたらきっと感動して落涙すると思います。

音の美しさやバランスの良さはもちろんですが、圧倒的なリズム感もジェイコブさんの魅力ですよね。山形の皆さんの手拍子もサイコーでした💕最後の決めポーズもカッコよかったです🥰
