Greetings, and welcome to the Herpetoculturalist Furries group - or "Herp-Furs" for short!
"What is Herpetoculture?"
Herpetoculture is the keeping of live reptiles and amphibians in captivity, either as a hobby or for breeding. Herp-Furs welcomes all reptile enthusiasts - hobbyists, commercial breeders, and everyone in between. Whether you are an experienced reptile-keeping veteran, a novice who is just beginning to explore the world of reptile husbandry, or just someone who fancies themselves a reptile lover, then this group is for you!
"What is the purpose of this group?"
Here, you can share information with others about reptiles and amphibians, ask & answer questions about anything related to their captive care, and show off some of the members of your prized herp collection! In addition, there will be journals posted with user questions regarding reptile care, health, and general facts.[/b]
"How do I become a member?"
Easy! Just click +watch at the top of the page. We ask that you please place an icon linking to the Herp-Furs group on your personal FurAffinity page. "Homes where reptiles roam" - Yahoo! article

"Herpers, as those people impassioned by reptiles and amphibians are known, are a different breed, and outfitting homes as oases for exotic animal life is no simple task.
Keeping reptiles in a residential setting requires more than devotion, to be sure -- it's a science of controlled humidity and finely-tuned temperature gradients, and specialized food, vitamins and supplements. It ain’t easy.
According to the American Pet Products Association, 4.6 million U.S. households have made the effort to take care of 13 million pet reptiles as of 2011."
