Welcome to the home for GreyMuzzles on FA!

The idea is to have a place for those of us who are older than dirt highly distinguished among the furry community, to have a place to hang out, swap ideas, and exchange stories. Let's help to dispel the notion that Furry is something that only those really young folks do. Besides, age is just a number. :) In case you're wondering, the term "Grey Muzzle" among Furries isn't an insult, but is generally used as a term of respect. I've caught a little bit of flak for the name of the group, but admittedly it's been good-natured. Just remember, I didn't come up with the name. Oh, and we spell it "GreyMuzzles" instead of "GrayMuzzles" because, well, "Gray" is an exclusively American spelling. The rest of the English-speaking world spells it Grey. Membership: According to the WikiFur article, many furs consider anyone over 30 to be a GreyMuzzle. That used to be the official age for this group, but I'm tired of being flamed for it. I swear, some people will make drama over the most trivial things -- and I thought the whole point most people joined Furry was to relax and have fun. I'm not the GreyMuzzle police. If you're 25 (for example) but you've been active in the fandom for a long time, and you want to join, go for it. And really, if you're tempted to flame me over this, get a life. I have better things to do than listen to people argue that their opinion is the only valid opinion in the whole universe. If you consider yourself to be a GreyMuzzle, go for it.

Effective immediately, I do not send confirmation notes or watchbacks. I simply have too much going on in my life to handle that. If you want to join, all you have to do is +watch the group page and put the icon on your own home page. Really. That's it. You don't have to note me, apply, ask for permission, etc. etc. -- Simple, right?

Why 30+, instead of making it, say, 40+ or 50+? Well, there are several reasons. If you check the WikiFur link above, you'll see that among furs there's some debate about when you become a Grey Muzzle, but 30's about the lowest. There's a LiveJournal community for GM's that also starts at 30, so this makes us consistent with them. And finally, it's a matter of numbers. There are simply more furs in the pool when you make it 30+, which means more of us to exchange ideas. But it's still old enough to have some maturity and to have been around the block a few times. But seriously, DO NOT flame me saying that I'm wrong about the age thing. I didn't come up with the number, and I'm not enforcing anything. If you want to join, please feel welcome.

Members who want to show off their being a senior or more experienced member of the fandom are welcome to put our icon in your FA profile. To do so, simply use the tag "icongreymuzzles" (replacing the quotation marks with colons). You don't have to wait for us to confirm you -- this is on the honor system. And I doubt too many people want to claim to be older than they are. Except maybe for college kids at the bar...

If you are sending a tweet to us or tweeting about us, please remember to include @GreyMuzzles somewhere in your tweet so it will show up in our mentions -- this greatly helps us find tweets that are relevant to us since Twitter timelines can get huge! Finally, if you have a private account (you've protected your tweets) we can't retweet you directly.
