Starting off strong with the new Sentai No.1 Sentai Gozyuger. First Sentai to have an English phrase in its title. And that got me thinking; since this is the 50th anniversary of Sentai, that’s 50 years of firsts.

1) Himitsu Sentai Goranger: Well… first everything. Too many to list XD First/last Sentai to have over 90 episodes.
2) J.A.K.Q. Dengekitai: First White Ranger. First/last Sentai to have its shortest season.
3) Battle Fever J: First Sentai to have mouths in the helmet designs. First Sentai to be produced alongside Marvel. Aaaaaannnnnd~ fist Sentai Mecha, baby! ^^
4) Denshi Sentai Denziman: First Sentai to have a Henshin Device. First Sentai to have a transforming robot.
5) Taiyo Sentai Sun Vulcan: First Sentai to have just 3 members and stick to it. First combining robot in Sentai.
6) Dai Sentai Goggle-V: First Black Ranger in Sentai. First series to have the title announced at the beginning of the opening credits.
7) Kagaku Sentai Dynaman: First Sentai to use spandex. Don’t let Dr. K hear that XD
8) Chodenshi Bioman: First Sentai to have two ladies on the team. Would’ve been the fist Sentai to be adapted into Power Rangers.
9) Dengeki Sentai Changeman: This is the first season to have a female White Ranger and a Pink Ranger in the core team. This would not occur again until Ninninger thirty years later. This is also the only season to have two females in the main five without a Yellow Ranger.
10) Choshinsei Flashman: First Sentai series to have a second robo, Great Titan. The last Sentai to not have the word ‘Sentai’ in its title.
11) Hikari Sentai Maskman: Would’ve been the first Sentai to introduce a sixth ranger, but X-1 mask was just a one-off for one episode. The first Sentai where each Ranger had individual mecha.
12) Choju Sentai Liveman: First Sentai to start off with three, then add two more later. First animal-motif Sentai. Would’ve been Sentai’s 10th anniversary, cuz Goranger, JAKQ, and Battle Fever J weren’t counted as part of Sentai till 1995. First female Blue Ranger. First Sentai where two robots combined.
13) Kousoku Sentai Turboranger: First Sentai where the team were all highschool students. First Sentai to NOT do a rollcall… like ever. First car-motif Sentai.
14) Chikyu Sentai Fiveman: First all-sibling team. First Sentai to introduce a powered-up armor form.
15) Choujin Sentai Jetman: First Sentai to have a 3rd robot in Tetra Boy. Again, would’ve been the first Sentai to be adapted into Power Rangers.
16) Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger: What can I say? It’s a massive landmark for both Super Sentai. First Dino-themed Sentai. First Sixth Ranger. And, dare I say it? The first to be adapted into Power Rangers!
17) Gosei Sentai Dairanger: First kid ranger, that would be Kou a.k.a KibaRanger. The first Sentai to not be fully adapted into Power Rangers… for obvious reasons. And the first Sentia to have a Chinese mythology motif. ^^
18) Ninja Sentai Kakuranger: First ninja themed Sentai. First Sentai to get a second robot that has individual robots.
19) Choriki Sentai Ohranger: It would’ve been the last Sentai series ever due to the Sarin Subway Incident and the Kobe earthquake that shifted production, but the toy sales were record-breaking then, so it wasn’t in danger of cancellation. The first Sentai to start doing team-up movies.
20) Gekisou Sentai Carranger: First Sentai I’ve ever watched. ^^ This show would’ve also been the last Sentai. Fun fact, we in the west always thought Carranger was what saved Super Sentai from cancellation, but that’s a misconception. Carranger was under the constant threat of cancellation from low viewership. Ohranger’s decline was stable, while Carranger’s wasn’t until later episodes.
21) Denji Sentai Megaranger: First silver sixth ranger. ^^
22) Seiju Sentai Gingaman : First Sentai to have ‘Chapter’ in each episode, and not simply ‘episode’. First Sentai to have actual living giant animals to be turned into Mecha.
23) Kyukyu Sentai GoGoFive: First Sentai to not have a Sixth Ranger (Zeke was a movie exclusive, and he died at the end). First Sentai to have a train-mecha.
24) Mirai Sentai Timeranger: First Sentai to have the Sixth Ranger to share the color red. First colored visors. First Sentai where the Henshin bracelet’s visible on the suits. First mecha were it has multiple forms. First Sentai to have a lady sing its opening. First Sentai to air alongside Kamen Rifer Kuuga when Kamen Rider made its comeback. First Sentai to use the word 'Zord' for one of the main enemy Mecha.
25) Hyakuju Sentai Gaoranger: First Sentai to have cellphones for Henshin devices. First Sentai where the actor of the Sixth Ranger is actually shown in the frickin’ credits! First Sentai where we see a team up from different various groups of the past. First Sentai to use Auxiliary Mecha.
26) Ninpu Sentai Hurricaneger: First Sentai to have two different shades of red and blue. First Sentai to have insect-themed Rangers.
27) Bakuryu Sentai Abaranger: First and so far, only Super Sentai Series acknowledged by its Power Rangers counterpart with that episode in ‘Dino Thrunder’.
28) Tokuso Sentai Dekaranger: First Sentai to exceed past six Rangers. First Sentai where it doesn’t really have an evil organization, just someone pullin’ some strings ^^ First Sentai where the mentor becomes a Ranger.
29) Mahou Sentai Magiranger: First Sentai where the opening was shot in New Zealand. XD Unfortunately this Sentai would be the late and great Machiko Soga’s final role before her passing.
30) GoGo Sentai Boukenger: First Sentai to have multiple villain factions. First Sentai to start using a Super Robo with multiple fusion of vehicles.
31) Juken Sentai Gekiranger: First purple Ranger. First Sentai to not have belts in the suits, except for GekiChopper.
32) Engine Sentai Go-Onger: First Sentai to have a first female Sixth Ranger. First Sentai to have TWO Sixth Rangers.
33) Samurai Sentai Shinkenger: First Sentai to have a team-up with Kamen Rider. First female Red Ranger that comes later in the series.
34) Tensou Sentai Goseiger: First Sentai to use cards, although MagiShine was the only one who did in Magiranger.
35) Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger: First of so many things. Most especially, the first Sentai where it also celebrated Metal Heroes’ 30 anniversary with Space Sheriff Gavan team-up movie.
36) Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters: First Sentai to use a plural form in the title. First Sentai to change its opening them mid-season (And I hate it’s second theme) First Sentai to use leather instead of spandex. First Sentai to use the word 'Megazord' and our favorite phrase 'It's Morphin' Time.'
37) Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger: First Sentai to have actual Rangers based off their Auxiliary Mecha. First Sentai to have a whopping ELEVEN RANGERS! First Sentai to have a South Korean spin-off show.
38) Ressha Sentai ToQGer: First Orange Ranger. First train-themed Sentai. First Sentai to NOT be adapted into Power Rangers.
39) Shuriken Sentai Ninninger: First Sentai where an actor from Power Rangers actually appears in Sentai; Yoshi Sudarso a.k.a. Koba the Blue Ranger from Power Rangers Dino Charge/Super Charge.
40) Dobutsu Sentai Zyuohger: First Sentai to use multiple forms as Ranger designations.
41) Uchu Sentai Kyuranger: First Sentai to have TWELVE RAGNERS! First Sentai to be exclusively set in its own universe. First Sentai where the team’s not trying to prevent a destruction or a conquest, but liberate what was already conquered.
42) Kaito Sentai Lupinranger vs Keisatsu Sentai Patranger: First Sentai where two teams duking it out with each other is the show’s main motif. First Cops/Robbers motif. First Sentai to not have a Blue Ranger with Patranger. First Sentai where the ‘Sixth Ranger’ is on both teams with two different forms.
43) Kishiryu Sentai Ryusoulger: First Brown Ranger. the last Sentai to be adapted into Power Rangers.... so far. C'mon, we've danced this dance before.
44) Mashin Sentai Kiramager: First Sentai in a long time to have a short season thanks to COVID.
45) Kikai Sentai Zenkaiger: First White Ranger in a long time as the leader of the team. First Sentai to have one human and four robots.
46) Avataro Sentai Donbrothers: First male pink ranger. First Sentai where two of the Rangers were CGI (aaaaaaaannnnnd not that good IMO)
47) Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger: First fully insect-themed Sentai. First Sentai to do a time-skip.
48) Bakuage Sentai BoonBoomger: First purple Sixth Ranger.
49) No.1 Sentai Gozyuger: Yeah yeah yeah, with Lupinranger and Patranger, this does ‘officially’ makes Goyuger the 50th Sentai. First Black female Ranger on the core team. First red wolf Ranger. Frist Sentai to have a non-red Tyranno-themed Ranger. First Sentai to do a Battle Royale thing. First Sentai where the Henshin device uses rings. First Sentai where the Henshin Devices not only becomes the Rangers’ sidearms, but also grows to be the main Mecha.

Will Goyuger have a big mecha combo? Well this season’s just starting, so we’ll just have to wait and see.

But man, that’s a lot of ‘firsts’ for Super Sentai. And I can’t wait to see more and more. ^^
