its just an american holiday of sorts where they say what there thankful for and have turkey :) but why the celebreate it..i cant quite remember somthing with the natives and invaders (us) swapping food and eating together. or somthing like that ^^

Thanksgiving originates from early colonial American history, back when Native Americans and the first British colonists were struggling to find peace with each other. The first winter was extremely cold, and the colonists' crops did not fair well. The Native Americans offered food and pelts for warmth. They also taught the colonists to fish, plant crops, and otherwise survive in the "new world." To repay their kindness the colonists put together a grand feast for the following autumn, and invited their Native American neighbors to give thanks. The day is looked upon as a day of remembrance for what we are all thankful for, and to share time and dinner with friends, family, and neighbors.

And to then wait in line for twelve hours for a $100 flat screen television.

In short i guess it can be summed up as additional X-mas, but with historical background. And of course - Turkey :3!
