Touching ancient idols always comes with an element of risk. If you're lucky, perhaps they'll only turn you into their new guardian instead of more dire consequences.
I love how echidnas can either be cute little spiky monotremes or the ancient Greek mother of monsters. Echidna of Greek legend is part woman, part venomous serpent (or serpents), though specifics are... hazy at best. So it was a fun concept to play with!
