One of the highlights of the London skyline is what, upon its completion in 1964, was known as the Post Office Tower, but now is called the BT (British Telecom) Tower. Rather like the CN Tower in Toronto, while it was initially designed to be microwave communications tower, it was adapted to allow for public use - it had a revolving restaurant and a public viewing gallery, which in its first year of operation attracted one million visitors, offering fine dining and spectacular views over Central London.
However, none of those visitors would have been able to officially report any details their visit to the General Post Office tower... in 1978, a journalist was even arrested and tried for doing so. That is because, as a critical part of the UK's telecommunications infrastructure, it was classed as an official secret. Though I can't find official confirmation that reporting details about the tower, I'm assuming it's fine for me to post here about it. Either that, or this is the last you'll hear from me. :P
Hope you enjoy!
