Knuckles kept watch from a distance until it was safe to emerge out of the tall grass. There was no way in hell he’d risk being spotted, again; lest he wished to incur his mother’s wrath! Thankfully, the tension seemed to have dissipated soon after Knux made his escape. The shrunken echidna felt lucky to be alive, all thanks to his baby half-brother’s daring intervention.
That’s enough for today. It’s almost time for your nap, young man. Let’s go home!
And with that, Lara-Le and Kneecaps took their leave. Once his mother’s gigantic footsteps drew further away in the distance, Knuckles felt safe enough to come out of hiding. Fortunately, both his mother and sibling hadn’t completely disappeared from sight just yet. Now that he saw what direction they went, Knuckles knew which way was the right path home! At that moment, Knuckles spotted Kneecaps staring in his direction, as the infant echidna smiled and waved at him.
Thanks for the save, baby brother. Good looking out!
After giving his baby half-brother a hearty thumbs-up, Knuckles recommenced his shrunken journey for home. In addition to following the same path his mother was headed, Knuckles also had the option of tracking Lara-Le’s enormous footprints embedded in the soil; they also served as a grim reminder to approach with great caution. Regardless, Knuckles’ hope and spirit was reinvigorated -- ready to face any obstacles head-on!

First of all, damn you, hindsight! Secondly, I would assume that maybe he was still too shook up to think of that tactic. After all, he just had a serious brush with death came real close to being a bloody smear underneath the sole of his mother’s shoe
And besides, he’s not completely stuck, you know; he can still follow their direction. Who knows? Maybe Knuckles will catch up, and then latch on to her robe, or something like that

You know, the robe thing never really came to mind when I was drafting the description/layout for the last page. At that point, I was just trying to wrap everything up in six pages because that’s what I paid for at the the time; anything else would’ve cost extra which I couldn’t afford. Plus, I’m saving that “hitching a ride on her feet” idea for another occasion I’m hoping to work on it by early as next year in 2021 Be on the lookout for it!
Another fantastic series, naturally. Knuckles' mom has definitely got it going on. There were some seriously lovely shots of her sandals in this, especially from his perspective!
Also, Kneecaps is quite the little bro, size aside! I wasn't really expecting it, but he really came through in the end for Knuckles. Saved him from becoming nothing but a squashed little bug embedded deep into the dirt. How nice! I'd be fine not being "saved" from such a fate, of course, but good on them!

I’m glad you enjoyed it She certainly does. Doesn’t she? In fact, she’s quickly becoming the MOAM (Mother Of All Macros) in my eyes Those juicy shots were intentional, of course ~
Funny you should mention it, because this short series was originally planned on being only four pages long; ending with that suspenseful (yet beautiful) angle of Lara-Le about to squash the life out of Knuckles Kneecaps’ intervention was a later addition in order to finish the story with a proper outcome rather than another cliffhanger. You know what I mean? As for your “not being saved” conclusion, that could be seen as an alternate ending One that I may consider commissioning for a future project ~

The Mother Of All Macros!? Goodness, that's quite a title and a declaration. If I had to choose just one character for something like that, I don't think I'd ever be able to arrive at a definitive answer. There's just too many amazing characters out there and I'm bad at choosing favorites anyway! I can definitely respect your choice though, as who could possibly deny Lara-Le, especially when she's seen in art like this?
Now, personally, I would have preferred that original ending (shocking, I know), but Kneecaps saving his big bro is certainly a cute way to do it as well and I get not wanting cliffhangers all the time.
This alternate ending you speak of would, of course, be the best of all, so it's very titillating to think it may possibly be seen someday.
