OK, not really, But between partner companies Hasbro and Takara-Tomy, they have been remaking Optimus Prime near-constantly in some form for decades now, so pretty much every year or two offers up a new toy that's "Another Optimus Prime, but larger/smaller/small-kid-friendly/collector-oriented/an armored-up form/a combiner/in cartoon style/in movie style/an animal/a triple-changer/a fire truck/a game console/a shoe" But in 2019, we get a new Optimus Prime toy that's rather 'back to its roots' in design (Transformers War for Cybertron: Siege line), while at the same time Wal-Mart stores in the US are offering a reissue of the original G1 Optimus Prime toy in period packaging (though kinda pricey and without the semi trailer). Two toys of more or less the same thing and close to the same size, but separated by 35 years of toy design developments. Makes for nice bookends.
As this is the Transformers' 35th year, this year I'm going over 35 years of Transformers toys and history on my new Twitter. (though it's early in 2019 so far, so I'm only up to 1985.) It you're a TF fan, feel free share your own favorite Transformers Toys and memories and stuff, all hashtagged-up.

A great thing TFW's podcast reminded me of: When Hasbro was impressed by how well some of their Classics(?) figures turned out, Takara's response was "It's because we didn't insert any gimmicks." I think that's why this new Optimus and Megatron look so eye-catching to me - they're just a really nice Optimus and Megatron with no "also they do this" attached. Battle damage is something of a topic of debate, but it seems like it looks fine on them in particular.

Same here. Still trying to find a way to put Slash on Volcanicus to fill out the waist. All the vids I've seen either have her as a backpack or attached to the front in some way, neither of which do anything about the waist. And yeah, I know, there are 3rd party sets that fix that problem, but I don't want to spend that kind of money.
I only ever had a few transformers back in the 80s. I still have them, although they're in a box that's still at my parents' house. They're all still complete, except for the Decepticon jet I have that's missing the nosewheel landing gear. I have one or two GoBots, too.
