This guy didn't have the most united family while growing up. That is to say, his dad was never around because he was actually a rape baby. His mother was against abortion and insisted on raising the child regardless, and so she did for a while...
But times got rough, and soon she didn't make it, dying in her sleep from malnutrition. Toughset was housed with civil services and shelters for a time, but got sick of the lack of freedom, and how he got no answers about his mom. So he ran off and found his own.
Time had passed, and he even succeeded in finding his legitimate father, and killing him. The man was involved in human trafficing across the border, and responsible behind a number of kidnappings. Regardless, it's made him realize that there's two kinds of people; those who need protection, and those who need to be brought down humble. After learning about his mother in full, he grew to have a huge respect for women in general, even if some of them are rather slutty and asking for trouble. And so he now resides as a bouncer by night, and a brawler by day, sporting a headband made from the sweater his mother wore the day she died. He doesn't carry a gun. Frankly doesn't need one. This guy is build more like a tank than any of the other multiverse variations by far. He's taken bullets and shrugged them off. Besides, he doesn't delight in the bloodshed...
