+15 minutes after the final meeting - whole team decides to quit
+20 minutes after the final meeting - team decides to join me in a dream - gets it started with a chat group, one fleet team member puts in his 2 weeks
+2 days after the final meeting - manager resigns on the spot
+3 days after the final meeting - 90% of the DOT drivers, 3 rookies, and a few handful of veteran drivers decide it's time to leave and come with us.



I started working with my 3rd party Amazon company Aug 3, 2019, my manager (who became like a brother to me) was hired 3 days later. As time moved on, we both moved up the ranks. He eventually became the Operations Manager, and I became the Operations Supervisor. Sometime late 2020, my now fiance was hired on by the same manager who hired me on, we get to know each other during work, my Manager and 2 fleet guys kept pushing me to date her.

November 25th, 2021 - took the leap and asked her out on a date, to join me for Thanksgiving, she said yes!

Early February 2022 - big scandal pops up in the company - me and our 2 fleet guys got falsely accused of sexual harassment. I was cleared as there was no evidence against me, along with one of the fleet guys. The other one got pinned with it because the company needed a scape goat.

February 20th, 2022 - HR published a new version of our employee handbook - no change log/update log provided - they asked everyone to just sign and acknowledge. They got wind of me dating my co-worker and introduced a new rule prohibiting any romantic relationship within the company, and required that everyone report if they were partaking in one so they could review it and say if it can continue or not.
-Didn't read it fully/accept it until April 21st, 2022.

April 24, 2022 - my girlfriend at the time got asked to talk to HR to verify if we were dating. That night, received a message from my boss to meet with him and HR the following morning. Called my girlfriend that night on the way home to let her know that my time has come, that they called me in and wanted to talk to her. I told her, "No matter the outcome, if they say that it's either I break up with you to keep my job, or that I have to resign/get fired.... would you take me to be your husband....?"

Without missing a beat....

She said YES

April 25th, 2022 - I got fired at 11:30am for being in a romantic relationship with my now fiance, and for being in violation of company policy that took effect after we were seeing each other. And I wouldn't have it any other way.

After I turned in my laptop and badge, went to say my goodbyes to my co-workers. They all were shocked, upset, and furious, however. I told them the same story as above, and they all wanted to quit right there on the spot, especially my manager who became my best friend.

Long story short, we couldn't be happier! Even though everyone says we should file a wrongful termination lawsuit, but we more than likely won't just due to the sheer support that we've been getting from all our friends and (former) co-workers! I still can't believe that I got fired for loving a woman who loved me for who I am, nor that they want to help me realize my dream of reviving the family trucking business ♥
